[Pressure] Ramp Inquiry

My AirSense 10 Auto ramp time is definitely set to Auto. Yet, Oscar since beginning its use a week or so ago always reports Ramp Time as 20 minutes. This is driving me toward Excedrin, the extra Strength one, consumption. Why might the machine's Ramp Time not be reported to Oscar as Auto?

Probably because a lot of OSCAR (almost all of it) was inherited from SleepyHead, and most of that was developed by a single individual with comparatively limited resources. There has never been any manufacturer supplied documentation of the data on the SD card, so it requires careful experimentation to determine what data values correspond to which settings of the screen interface. It is a work in progress by the OSCAR development team.

Do not take Excedrin to alleviate this problem... overdosing is bad for your kidneys

This is mere speculation on my part. Resmed ramp time settings are in 5 minute increments when manually set. It may report the closest 5 minute time based on the patient's response when set to "Auto".

A) Your minimum pressure is 4 cm, there is no point to use ramp as it is literally doing nothing but delaying therapy.

B) You can tell how long the ramp is by looking at pressure charts.

C) There is a software support subforum you could post this in to bring it to peoples attention. If it isn't already being fixed (there is an updated OSCAR version in beta right now) then they might be able to fix this unless it is this way because it is too difficult for some reason. Remember this is free software and little bugs like this are low priority compared to making sure the important aspects of OSCAR work properly.

I think it's a sales gimmick for new users. I used ramp at first because I didn't know any better. I read a post one day, written by an experienced user, saying they are comfortable with their pressure and haven't used it in many years. I tried not using ramp and and never went back. Once you are used to your settings it's just a waste of therapy time.

I only used ramp for about a week, and then turned it off. I don't need it. As previous post notes, It's a waste of therapy time.

The ramp made everything worse for me.  At the suggestion of this group I turned it off and haven't looked back.  It was sold to me as easing me into my therapy...it did the opposite.

I use ramp for an entirely different reason. I set my ramp starting pressure to the same as my minimum pressure and a 5 minute time. This way there are no events or pressure changes for the first 5 minutes. It gives me time to get my mask , pillows, and body situated before therapy starts for real.

The ramp is a feature for beginners. Once you get even a little bit adapted most people find they don't need it anymore.

I also turned the ramp off. Felt like I couldn't breathe. Much better without.
