[Pressure] SunsetsBrew's Journey
#11
RE: SunsetsBrew's Journey
Thanks for the responses and analysis of the sleep study! Gideon thank you for your work with Oscar and unlocking the ability to get our data in such an easy and workable way.

I will stay the course, as Dave suggested I will play with epr down to 2 to see if that does anything with the ca’s and I will bump my min to 9.

Appreciate your help everyone!

RE: SunsetsBrew's Journey
I turned my min pressure up to 9 and was immediately uncomfortable, I woke up a couple times to my mouth just wide open leaking air.  my CA's were back to where they were before two nights ago.  I think I may bring my min pressure back down to 7 and lower EPR down to 2 and then 1 on another night.  Last night was not a great night of sleep, definitely feeling not as rested as the last two nights. I have a full face mask on order which I will try when it comes to try and help with my mouthbreathing issue.

A high level of CA are present, and you'll want to avoid them with lower EPR.

Maybe my data size just isn’t big enough yet (only have about 5 days of logged therapy under my belt) but my ca events have been their lowest when my epr was at 3 rather than off (7 min pressure epr 3), I have tried 9min epr off and 9min epr 3 with noticeably higher ca’s.  I think I may need to take it slow and let my body get used to it.

Also when the pressure is higher I tend to open my mouth more, so I will experiment with the ffm when it arrives (resmed f30).

I also just bought a cervical collar as I tend to sleep supine (it was cheap and seems to be well recommended to stop positional apnea events)

I'm of the type to believe the amount of data trends is of value. So far in various people with probable treatment emergent CA present, lowering EPR should reduce them. Even so, it's your therapy, if you want to slowly reduce EPR have at it. Just note that all CA are consistently inconsistent.

The point or data trends is a fair one, and I definitely think it is probably the right one, I just don’t think my body is ready for the shock of bringing epr to zero from 3 (it is still trying to get used to therapy in general I think), I will try to get there, but I definitely felt more rested and less headachy from the two days where I was at 7min epr 3 than 9min epr 1.

Thanks for the advice!

RE: SunsetsBrew's Journey
I wanted to clarify some of my thoughts on my previous post (We are not allowed to edit after a time.). This only relates back to my older post.

I said:
Currently your CA is most likely Treatment Emergent CA. What it means is your body has dealt with you having OSA which deprived your body of oxygen for years. So now with CPAP your airway is more open and you are breathing better. So you body is like WOW....Oxygen. So it will take a month or so for these to go away. Your body has adjust to the new normal.

To be more clear:
Currently your CA is most likely Treatment Emergent CA which is related to lower carbon dioxide. In general lower carbon dioxide than you body is or was used to from the past without treatment. What it means is your body has dealt with you having OSA which deprived your body of oxygen for years. So now with CPAP your airway is more open so your body is able to breathe better than before. So it will take a month or so for these to go away. Your body has adjust to the new normal.

Again this is only related to my older post. Follow what others told you to do.
Thank you,

RE: SunsetsBrew's Journey
Thanks for the clarification!, I will see where I am at with my CAs in a few weeks

I set my pressures back to min7 and epr 3 and for the first 5 hours I had really good sleep, 1.4 AHI with only 1 or 2 events that wernt CA, and then I woke up because my hose had water in it and was making alot of noise.  I also felt decently rested at that time

I emptied it out and as I was trying to go back to sleep I had a whole lot of CA events which I think woke me up in quick succession because I kinda realized I wasnt breathing, I have a zoom here.  I woke up feeling not great after 2 more hours or so.

I will keep trying to get my EPR down to 1, I will lower to 2 tonight and see if I notice it.

RE: SunsetsBrew's Journey
Yes try EPR of 2.  Let's see how the CA does after that.  You will want not just go by 1 nights sleep.
