Can I change pressure on VPAP S myself?
Hi,
I own a Resmed VPAP S (w/H4i humidifier). This is an older model, from what I understand. I am pretty frustrated that, back in 2011 when I got this, my doctor sold me something which was being phased out, probably to get it off his hands.
Anyways, I have relocated and it is taking a while to set up an appt. for a new sleep study - i.e. to spend over $1000 for someone to lower my pressure(s) a couple #s. Because that's how the medical industry is, nowadays. :/
I can tell it needs lowered. I've lost some weight, and have made a lot of improvements, including reducing allergies, sinus problems and quit smoking. I used to use my current setting sleeping on my side (which I prefer), and now have to use it sleeping on my back - else I swallow air and wake up multiple times per night to burp!
Can I lower the pressure myself? The top # is the one I need lowered (I'm at 16/12), at least. Or, can I get some kind of card reader to reprogram this thing myself? thanks

You can send an email to the site for a download of the ResMed VPAP Auto 25 & VPAP ST & VPAP S combined manual. This will give you complete instructions on how to enter the clinician menu and adjust pressure. Just follow the instructions here:

Congratulations on your success and
Many of us here at Apnea Board have made our own pressure adjustments. You can request a copy of the clinician's manual from
http://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-pr...tup-manual
Go to the bottom of the page to the section labeled "How to ask for a manual via email." You will want to request the manual "ResMed VPAP Auto 25 & VPAP ST & VPAP S (combined manual, not the S9 series)".
To get you started, you can get into the clinician's menu by holding down the down arrow and right arrow buttons for 3 seconds. Write down the current settings before you change anything.

Thanks, I was able to just find it on Google. However, I am not able to get to the menu needed to adjust pressure. I can only adjust the mask type. It says the menu to adjust pressure may not be listed, if your clinician has hid the menu.
I'm guessing I'd need to change the setting on the chip, somehow. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks

big_dave, i just saw your post. thanks much, that answered my outstanding question on how to enter the clinical mode. I am going to just go from 16/12 to 15/12 for now. thanks again! it's a huge help

There are two different manuals. I think you found the patient's manual on Google. You may still want to request the clinician's manual from Apnea Board.

Ok, thanks again big_dave. I sent an email request, and will take a closer look at the manual. I'm sure there's more to learn than just pressure settings.
