You didn't say what size F20 You tried .. Did You print a size guide from the Resmed site ??
Correct sizing has a great effect on leaks ..
Good Luck ..

RE: Mask Change P10/ N30 to F20 Issue (Resmed)
I am trying the Airtouch F20.  The Resmed site had selection type page and this was recommended for facial hair.  I saw some advice to run the straps at the bottom tighter than the ones at the top and got a much better result last night.  I think I actually grind my head on the pillow and cause the nasal mask straps and chin straps to move out of position because when I wake with a leak they have slid up.  The hair on the back of my head also tends to be quite dry suggesting some head grinding.

I have seen several references to a cervical collar.  Can a cervical collar actually be a "fix" for positional apnea or even apnea in general?  Upon initial testing, my doc and the data suggested that my apnea was highly correlated to back sleeping.  I spent about a year and tried all sorts of gizmos to not sleep on my back but was unsuccessful.  I next tried the dental device for at least a year but my O2 data looked bad so I moved on to CPAP.  I have never tried a collar.

On that same note, can you use a ResMed machine to perform your own apnea test?  I'm wondering if you turned down the pressures to "X", would the machine record what is going on but not actively make corrections?

Your thinking about the volume and pressure with a full-face mask does not work as you think. Yes, there is more area under the full-face mask, but the pressure delivered is the same as with pillows. It may take a second to fill up the FFM, but once at pressure the machine keeps it there. If you read the specs for the F20 and P10, the F20 leaks at about 3-4 cmH2O more than the P10, which is why there is a FFM, pillow, and nasal mask setting on the CPAP machine to account for the leak differences.

Crimson Nape gives an excellent explanation in this thread: https://www.apneaboard.com/forums/Thread-ResMed-mask-settings-what-changes-in-each-type

The leaks you have with the full-face mask need to be resolved for a comfortable night. What size cushions? There are plenty of videos on YouTube for the proper fitting and adjusting of masks worth researching. I’ve found with FFM keep the top strap loose, the middle strap a bit tighter to hold it in place, and the bottom strap even a bit tighter to keep it from sliding around. Works well for me, but YMMV.

Nothing worse than settling in for a bit of kip and losing the plot because the bloody mask leaks. Patience and practice are key to most things CPAP.

I just ordered a size medium but it came with a measuring card and I did measure as medium. Does head size make any difference with these devices? Size medium masks fit but XL motorcycle helmets are a snug fit. If the nasal pillow straps stayed in place, they would probably be OK. Even though the leaks with whistling woke me up, the ResMed showed a green smiley face for leaks. The chin strap slides down too and new ones seem to stretch out almost immediately.

This full face mask just has upper and lower straps.

Unfortunately the ResMed green and red leak test ghouls will likely lead you astray. Stick with monitoring leak rates on Oscar where there's actual values and charts to guide.
