Does Medicare require a 'sleep doctor'?

I finally had my yearly appointment with the sleep doctor after having them cancel two previous apppointments.  I came away from this appointment with a really bad opinion of this guy.  He seemed annoyed that I didn't go through 'proper channels' when I bought my AirSense S10 machine.  I told him I didn't want to deal with insurance and that I bought it as a 'gently used' machine and it works fine.  Personally I don't think it is his business how I got the machine.

I am an overweight person who is definitely trying to lose weight, but he seemed focused on my weight, rather than my sleep apnea.  I guess I will be looking to my GP for sure to write my prescription for supplies.  Does Medicare care that she can't download my SD card?  I really don't want to go back to the sleep doctor, not even with my husband accompanying me.  

GB, it is really easy for you to use Resscan and provide your GP with an annual report.  I do that for my doctor, and it gets scanned into their files.  This meets all the requirements for Medicare.  It shows you use your machine, benefit from the use, and your doctor recommends continued CPAP therapy.  That is all that needs to happen.  As I have said many times, you don't need a sleep specialist.  They are useful for signing off on a sleep study, if that is needed for diagnostic purposes.  I have not had a sleep study of any kind since 2008.
