ResScan 5.9 and SD card

ResScan 5.9 and SD card
I installed ResScan 5.9. I have the SD card plugged into an SD card reader connected to my PC with USB.

When I go to download data, it tells me no data found, please connect flow control or a data card. Is this software supposed to run with a standard SD card reader?

Windows 10 64-bit.

Did follow the ResScan instructions and not select any of the options?

Yes I made sure not to install any of the drivers on installation.

On install there was a tree showing what was going to be installed and there was no option to say "This feature will not be installed" for drivers. But on the next screen all 3 checkboxes were clear for the devices.

OK, that's usually the first place to look. Can you access the contents of the SD card from Windows Explorer?

Yes I can. I assume then that 5.9 is supposed to detect USB SD card readers. I have a multi reader (4 drive letters.. CF, SD, mMC and something else) that works fine.

Did earlier versions work better? I tried to find 3.11 as I saw that one show up in searches but couldn't find a download for it.
