[Equipment] Sleep Apnea Bed

I have been sleeping in my recliner and it seems to help me. That’s the plus. The negative is I’ve moved to my home office which is away from my wife. This obviously cannot be a long term solution. I’m thinking of trying one of the adjustable beds, but they are so expensive. What types have you used and have they been successful?  Not only is my breathing better, but I’m not destroying my shoulders. Thanks

Maybe a bed wedge would work for you? These are wedge shaped body pillows that can incline your body from the hips, and let you sleep in your own bed. They are available in a lot of sizes, shapes and materials. Most are used between your body and the matteress, but others are made to fit between your mattress and foundation and incline the mattress. There are even pillow systems that support your body and also allow you to elevate your knees, providing a position much like a recliner. Search the options for wedge pillows on Amazon or online and see what looks like it will work. At least you can go back to bed and still get the reclining position you seem to need.

I have, and use, one of the wedges Sleeprider mentions. I've placed mine under the mattress. Not sure of the degrees of incline, but I'm thinking it lifts the mattress about 3 inches. FWIW I'm using mine to limit GERD. If I lay flat, GERD tends to increase, even though I'm taking the med Protonix to help reduce it.

You also get frames so as you are very upright, they are not designed for sleep apnea, but would aork just as well.  They fit in a normal bed.
You should be able to find these in America in specialist health sites.  They are used to keep patients more upright, mainly older ones, but that should not stop you.  You will need a split mattress though.  Or two single ones.

I just use a pile of cheap pillows, flat ones and fat ones. I have 14! I angle the pile however I want. I kind of have a nest, with pillows all around. I also set up the pillows so I can't roll onto my side, but can lean my cheeks against them. (Otherwise I create a neurological catastrophe).

While I was at it, I found that my headgear stays on better if I use a very cheap ($1.37?) glide-y pillowcase.

This way, you can inexpensively figure out what you need, and go from there....

If you are disabled, could you get prescribed a tilting bed?
