Retesting ... Sucks. :(

Retesting ... Sucks. :(
So I'm on night 2 of a 3 night "take home" test.

Ugh.

I could barely fall asleep last night. And today I was seriously dragging.

This test can't be finished soon enough.

Dosco, what is the purpose of this testing? I just forget from your last thread why a test is needed.

RE: Retesting ... Sucks. :(
I visited my ENT, who hired a new doctor. I asked about an APAP and showed him some Sleepyhead charts. Plus, my original sleep study is from late 2007 ... I asked the new guy for a refreshed prescription and he wanted to do a take home test.

The logical side of me appreciates the need for some fresh data ... but I'm not happy that I feel so tired. A 1.5h drive to work in each direction is not pleasant either.

A night without PAP would be intolerable to me. Like I have to prove I have apnea again. What kind of logic is that? When was the last time you were asked to do without any medicine, just to prove you needed it?

I still have my 2008 prescription for auto CPAP and the results of the sleep study from April 2008. I can't imagine someone telling me to repeat that hell.

RE: Retesting ... Sucks. :(
I retested 4 years after being diagnosed with OSA AHI 32 in 2016 ( high on both back and side sleeping)   2020 home test showed AHI 15 with below 5 when sleeping on side and 28 when on the back.  Like an idiot I rejected the test as I had not taken a break from cpap before doing the test. Thought I knew more than my doctor who didn’t want to prescribe me a new cpap. I do think Europeans are more reluctant to go the cpap route unless severe OSA.   So I insisted and kept being on cpap not sleeping well.  Redid another one this year with a new specialist only sleeping on the side and AHI was 1.9. No clue why but I was ecstatic.  I sleep better now, without cpap.  Will do another test in  a year to see where things stand and periodically monitor the SO2.   So absolutely, do retest periodically as this is not static.  The home test don’t give the full picture for sure but they are much easier to do ( and cheaper).
