AirCurve 10 VAUTO Setup

AirCurve 10 VAUTO Setup
Currently I have a Dreamstation Auto BIPAP. Settings EPAP 20 IPAP 25 PS Min 3  Max 5.  Rise time set at 2 (300 msec).

I just ordered a ReMed AirCurve 10 VAUTO.

Being that the algorithms are different, and the Pressure Support is set different, whats a good starting setup for the ResMed.

By the way it's not here yet but will be in a few days.

Thanks.

Whatever make you most comfortable. With pressure that high it almost becomes fixed pressure since your potential range is only 23/20 to 25/20-22. It's not much difference. I assume you set EPAP min to 20 and use PS 3 and allow the IPAP to go to 25.

Yes that's the setup I have.  Any chance the EPAP can be dropped down to 19 due to the ResMed being more reactive or is it too tight a pressure support to matter?

RE: AirCurve 10 VAUTO Setup
Walla, you are certainly free to try lower pressure, perhaps down to 16, and see how it goes. The pressure difference you tolerate is dependent on what type of apnea you are experiencing and the pressures that mitigate it. The Resmed will respond faster, but if you need a pressure in the 20-25 range, you will end up there anyway. Set EPAP at your best guess for minimum effective pressure, add PS 3 and set the max IPAP at 25.

Sounds good. I thought I wanted to start the pressure support at 3 but wasn't sure. Always better to get a second opinion from someone smarter than yourself.  Big Grin
