Have been using BiPAP in S mode as originally prescribed. The settings I have been using:
IPAP 14.0
EPAP 10
Ti Max 2.0 sec
Ti Min 0.3 sec
I have been doing pretty well and sleeping much better since starting therapy.
I just got a new BiPap machine and looked at how they set it up. The settings above are the same, except they sent it in the VAuto mode and added a PS of 4.
I am interested in trying the VAuto mode and I would like to know if the settings are correct to start?
I'm not sure on the Ti settings but lets look at the other pressure settings.
You have a max of 14
Min 10
with a ps 4
With those settings you are really using the machine as a cpap of 14 with a exhale of 10. I not saying that it is wrong but I don't know why they would give you a bi-pap with those settings. Give it a night and use OSCAR _(totally free to download and use from the top of the page). You do need a SD card in the machine to transfer information here...
Ti seems like default I had during the failed VAuto attempt.
At least yours is in VAuto mode, which will be likely much better for you than static S mode.
I suppose you'll need to try it and create OSCAR data, then members can assist and guide in settings edit.

Thank you Stacy ... I have been using machine for couple of years now ... The settings were from prescribing physician after sleep study. I used oscar in the beginning but you really get limited data in S mode. I do feel the machine has made a big difference in my sleep so never changed it. Just got new machine and they sent in VAuto mode but with the settings prescribed which as you pointed out made the VAuto act same as in S mode. I changed Max IPAP to 20 last night and seemed to do just fine. Looked at Oscar this morning and appears to give more data. I will try a few days and try to learn how to interpret the increase data. May need assist but will look at other posts first. Thanks for your help.
You can even post after this upcoming night. There's data on this which will help some. It won't be a trend many day thing, but it will be helpful to getting it dialed in faster in my opinion.

In the 5 threads you have posted so far, you are yet to post an Oscar chart. It's really difficult to judge whether you would benefit from a longer TiMax or a different range of pressure given the available information. If your new machine is set to Vauto mode, EPAP min 10.0, IPAP max 14.0, PS 4.0, that will still be fixed pressure, and should not feel a lot different from your trial in S-mode. The TiMin and TiMax are simply default values from the device manufacturer and don't represent any titration or consideration by your doctor. If you want to know, post a chart.

Sleeprider,
I added attachment with last nights OSCAR ... not sure if I did correctly .... will see if works
There appears to be a periodic breathing pattern in the flow rate. It would help to see a zoom at a 4-minute resolution to be able to visualize this pattern. You may need lower PS or a more sensitive trigger setting. I believe you will tolerate a lower EPAP min pressure of 8.0 and IPAP max at 15.0. I think we should take this one step at a time and see what happens.
