Just for context, I take 30 mg Mirtazapine for falling asleep and 100 mg Trazodone for the middle insomnia. Before the middle insomnia came out of nowhere, Mirtazapine worked really well for my general sleep quality. The Trazodone doesn't stop me from waking up mid-night but it helps tremendously with reducing the side-effects of disrupted sleep and also with falling back asleep; it's very noticeable when I forget to take it because I'd toss and turn after waking up.

Second opinion on sleep study results?
My in-lab sleep study results came back and showed basically nothing. I saw 2 sleep specialists from the same center that conducted the sleep study and neither gave anything more than vague suggestions; the first said it was a sleep-wake disorder while the second said I was having a "traumatic experience with sleep." I slept extremely poorly during the in-lab, feeling like I just barely dozed off for an hour at most before waking and staying up for the rest of the night. They tried to make me sleep on my side and on a bed that was inclined at the front which I've never done. Furthermore I skipped out on one of my sleep medications, the one that was specifically prescribed to treat my middle insomnia, because I was worried that it would mask the underlying sleep issue. What bothers me about this study's results is that it showed absolutely zero apneas when, to my understanding, it's actually normal to have some apneas. My guess is that I never reached a deep enough state of sleep for anything to be detected. I explained all this to my psychiatrist who agreed that perhaps the lack of meaningful sleep during the study is skewing the results and that it might be worth going for a second. I posted the sleep study results below with the hopes that something stands out to the apnea veterans here.

RE: Second opinion on sleep study results?
I'm sorry you sleep so poorly. I was that way for most of my life.
According to your sleep study, you slept 4.3 hours, enough time to see what was happening while you slept. With an in-lab test, they can tell when you are actually asleep. I wouldn't worry about taking sleeping pills before your test. I took Trazodone long before my sleep study and still showed up with severe sleep apnea. If you don't trust your study you could request another one with a different company, or do an at-home test. Since you showed zero apnea in this in-lab test, it seems likely that if you have any apnea, it may not be enough to qualify for a pap machine. It's up to you what you do now. Your insurance may or may not pay for another study.

I can't see your attachment however if you are not able to request another PSG or they deny it, you might be able to try Lofta. [DME Link Removed]
I haven't used it myself but I've hear really good things! You do have to pay out of pocket but I think once you get the prescription your insurance might reimburse you or cover it from a DME provider. Like I said I haven't used it myself, but it might be worth looking into. All the best -----
