Strange CPAP related Dreams

Strange CPAP related Dreams
I am curious about everyone's strange CPAP related dreams. Dreaming seems to have been part of everyone's journey to CPAP success. Anywhere from no dreams to very vivid dreams, to sleep paralysis dreams. Well last night was a vivid, sleep paralysis, and strange dream.

I started with the P10 nasal pillow and have been very successful with that mask for the past 1 1/2 years. Never once felt uncomfortable or removed the mask in my sleep until last night.

So.... Here is my strangest dream while using the CPAP.

I was climbing a tree that was covered with slugs. Not the normal kind, but ones that looked amoebas. (Long and irregular in shape) Of course they started climbing on my face and sleep paralysis took effect.  I was unable to move and pull them off.  Well, I finally was able to move and .... You guessed it .... Off came the mask.  It woke my wife and it took hours before I could get back too sleep.

Would be curious t hear about dreams others have had.
CPAP is a journey like “The Wizard of Oz”. It’s a long slow journey. You will face many problems and pick up many friends along the way. Just because you reach the poppies, it doesn’t mean you are in Kansas.

Through CPAP, welcome to the world of REM sleep. Vivid dreaming is very common in the beginning and I guess can continue. Sleep paralysis would be scary though.

For auto-cpap, from machine data or software. You can set the min pressure 1 or 2cm below 95%. Or clinicians commonly use the maximum or 95% pressure for fixed pressure CPAP, this can also be used for min pressure.

RE: Strange CPAP related Dreams
I am dreaming now more than ever before since starting CPAP and more recently switching to APAP.
The dreams I am having are of me back in the home town and house where I grew up. It also generally involve me driving a vehicle or motorcycle. Other than than they are non-descript.

Sleep paralysis!  Never been affected by that, but I think it would be quite scary!
I have just had normal dreams, mind you what I class as normal might get me locked up!
Just like Walla Walla Big Grin

I do remember going to the Sleep Clinic and being asked "Do you dream?"
I never thought about it, but I remember thinking, I don't dream these days, they returned after a while on CPAP.
I only remember one weird dream where I had been shouting in my sleep (I got a dig in my ribs) where someone had said they were going to fix something a certain way and I didn't agree, anyway, it ended up in a shouting match with bad tempers and me shouting "Are you F***" at the top of my voice!  Needless to say, I got told off about it and the choice of language!  I was sleeping!

I do not want nightmares, I had plenty of them when I was a little annoying kid!
I am NOT a doctor.  I try to help, but do not take what I say as medical advice.

Every journey, however large or small starts with the first step.

Before CPAP I was not dreaming at all and only had sleep paralysis once. It was very scary at first but now that I know what it is and why it happens, I can cope with it better.

Now I dream most of the nights and many times they are very vivid. Frequently they include sleep paralysis.

Once, I hadn’t completed high school but I still had my college degree. I was on my way to a test an couldn’t find the right room. Can you imagine a college grad having to finish high school.

Another recurring dream is getting drafted, again, at 65.

I think my brain is still adapting.

RE: Strange CPAP related Dreams
Interestingly one of the first replies I gave my doctor last week when he asked how I was feeling at my Medicare compliance visit was how I am now dreaming every night.  I would have the occasional dream the past few years but now they are nightly (with me on CPAP).  Seems like several are erotic but many just normal strange dreams.  I have not had a paralyzing dream in many many years but used to get them occasionally in my much younger days.

In my Titration I never got to my NREM or REM sleep phases which accounts for no dreams.  Welcome the dreams, erotic or not, means you are getting to the critical for health REM phase
