Oscar Reporting
Hi All,

I have just installed OSCAR and was going through the software. In the "About OSCAR" under Help the second line under "Please Read Carfully" states:

Due to the lack of documentation released by manufacturers regarding file formats, the accuracy of data displayed in OSCAR can not in any way be guaranteed.

Has anyone done a compare for Resmed AirSense 10 auto to see if there are any inaccuracies in terms of what the sleep clinic is seeing using Resmed's software and OSCAR? If so what kind of discrepancies were identified?

Best Regards,

Kashyap

RE: Oscar Reporting
Hi rkashyap! - Welcome

Basically, the manufacturer's software is used to compare the results of OSCAR during development. The text that you are reading is two pronged. First it is just a disclaimer, so anyone connected with the OSCAR project can not be held liable. Secondly, it would be a monumental task (if possible) to get every manufacturer that has a device supported in OSCAR, to sign off on its accuracy.

RE: Oscar Reporting
Hi rkashyap

Good to know there is somebody who read the "about it" Grin

Oscar and Rescan aren't analytics program. Just data readers. But the events index are calculate with no risk of error it's a simple addition / division. (total of events by hour)

In the SDcard you have the events and charts recorded. So the daily views have the exact same data.

But (I don't know/think Rescan Have this option) what I like in Oscar is the possibility of skipping session (each time you put on/off the mask) in the daily view and then the stats are recalculated. So you could have a better precision of your AHI. And that will impact on the Overview and statistics views.

For exemple, you go to bed, put your mask. Don't fall asleep, go to toilets and go back to bed and sleep. If you don't take the cpap to the toilets (what I presume it's the case for the majority of us) that will create 2 session.

So all the events and the time of the first session where you didn't sleep could be skipped by Oscar and then the precision of the stats will increase.

In fact if we just speek about Resmed, they use only edf file extension. It's a standart format created in 1992 specialy for medical data chart recording. I think EEG or ECG basically.
So you shouldn't have to look in Rescan to dev Oscar but only the edf documentation. (which it's not easy to find  Oh-jeez )
