[Treatment] Complex Sleep Apnea Questions
#11
RE: Complex Sleep Apnea Questions
I had ASV for 2 years, but I've also got the diagnosis of GOLD 3 COPD. In 2019 I had pneumonia in July, then bronchitis in September. Right after that ASV wouldn't sync with my breathing, so I had to quit.

Inspire wouldn't help Centrals because it's an electrical stimulus to tense throat muscles to reduce physical restrictions causing Obstructive Apnea.

Wow. Sorry to hear about your health issues. I had come to that conclusion too about Inspire.

Thanks for the concern. I'm fortunate I'm not worse physically, so fair quality of life. However if I had more COPD symptoms, they might actually treat me with the correct machine. Catch 22 at it's finest.

Thought I’d get some of your thoughts. Started ASV three weeks ago. AHI finally under control and typically 0.1-0.2 each night. Feel better, but my heart rate still tends to jump, on average, two times per night up to 90-100 or so. When that happens, I wake up, adrenaline is high along with cortisol levels probably, and I have a hard time going back to sleep. Maybe it’s just a central event and this will improve over time. I’ve pasted copies of last nights Oscar data. Thoughts?

Congrats on getting your ASV.

Note on this ASV therapy, that Flow Limit chart will likely be a bit busy. For sanity, please ignore. This is basically an artifact state from how the ASV attacks those potential CA. Your pointer you didn't ask for.

Possibly for comfort, maybe you'll want a touch not EPAP Min, round to 6 and see how that goes. Maybe it calms your disruptions thing.

Otherwise you're looking pretty good.

Ok thanks. I did try changing it to 6.0 for one night, but my AHI ticked up a bit to 0.3, so i changed it back. I'll mess around with it to see if I can get it dialed in. Thank you sir!

RE: Complex Sleep Apnea Questions
This is just my personal experience on an ASV. If I had an overall OSCAR reported AHI of 2-3 I was just fine. I hit 0 AHI fairly frequent, but it wasn't my goal. And my sleep study had 124 CA, 24 OA.

Saying this to come to this aspect, a difference in AHI of .1 due to you setting edit is still perfect. Who the settings because of feel with your AHI this low.
