[Treatment] LF Oral Surgeon recommendation in DMV area for MMA

LF Oral Surgeon recommendation in DMV area for MMA
BLUF: I'm looking for recommendations for a good oral surgeon to perform a Maxillomandibular Advancement in the Washington DC / Maryland / Northern Virginia area.

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea about 2 years ago. Tried CPAP but couldn't tolerate it and wasn't getting much relief of symptoms after a couple of months. Tried oral device, helped greatly with symptoms, but again could not tolerate it after a while due to pain in teeth / jaw. Literally felt like my teeth were going to fall out of my head for half the day after using it. After that I asked about surgery but my doc didn't know much about it and didn't give me much hope of relief from it. (Would later come to realize he was pretty much just pushing CPAPs and didn't really care about much else.) I said screw it at this point and just decided to suffer.

Early 2018, symptoms start getting worse. Fall asleep while driving to work. Thankfully I woke up before driving off the road. Constantly tired throughout the day, drinking 2 monsters a day just to function at work, chewing gum any time I have to get behind the wheel. At this point I decide I've had enough. Over the last few months I've done a great deal of research on every time of surgery related to sleep apnea there is.

I've decided on MMA for a number of reasons.
1. I have a at least a mild case of retronagthia, or an underdeveloped lower jaw.
2. It has between an 80-90% or higher (depending on the study) success rate in treating sleep apnea, with a very respectable cure rate.
3. My soft pallet isn't abnormally large.

I recently saw a new sleep specialist who reviewed all of my previous sleep studies and notes from the other doctor. I filled him in on everything and discussed surgery and he agreed that MMA is going to be my best bet. He was able to tell that my recessed lower jaw was likely contributing to my intolerance of CPAP, and said that my soft pallet tissue wasn't large enough to cause much, if any blockage. He wants me to get a more current sleep study done to get a new baseline before pressing on, which will be done this week. However, he said he does not know any oral surgeons in my area who specialize in MMA. The last surgeon he had worked with has since moved out of the area.

So, here I am, looking for a surgeon in my area. Anyone have any they can recommend? Or at least some resources I can use to find one near me?

Thanks!

Hi, SleepWhenImDead -

I realize you created this post ages ago, but I found it in a search.

Did you end up finding a surgeon in the DC area, and did you get the surgery done?

Thanks!
