[Treatment] Stuck in Timed Mode?
#11
RE: Stuck in Timed Mode?
The correct term in the manuals and menu is Resp rate or respiration rate, and is only available on the ST in ST or T modes. I am guilty of interchangeably calling it a backup rate or breaths per minute. Sorry for any confusion that may have caused.

The clinical guide is not very helpful in setting Ti min or Ti Max, and seems to be more concerned with preserving expiratory time for COPD patients. We have experienced many healthy individuals on the forum that felt their inspiration time was clipped or being forced to cycle by the machine. The clinical manual does not even discuss Ti longer than 2.0 seconds, but many, myself included, use a longer time so that the machine stays out of the way of longer inspiration time as needed. The machine will always cycle on spontaneous exhale anyway, so unless you have a tendency to not cycle with sufficient time for expiration, a longer Ti Max is not a problem.

RE: Stuck in Timed Mode?
what are people using for Ti Min?  I believe I have mine set at 1s, and Ti Max is 3.1 or close under that.  My Ti Max is pretty close. Should I up Ti Min?

RE: Stuck in Timed Mode?
Jeff, increasing TiMin above the minimum 0.3 is only done if you don't spontaneously maintain inspiration and need the machine to hold IPAP for a minimum time. It's hard to know if you need this, and I definitely don't recommend more than one second, and might even suggest 0.8. Some individuals will initiate inspiration spontaneously then have a reduction in effort. Longer TiMin can get them past that hesitation. If you don't have a problem with spontaneous inspiration, then it's generally not a setting we change from default.

RE: Stuck in Timed Mode?
I guess at this point, my AHI looks good (.3 last night) my o2 sats are outstanding, time under 90% was less than a minute.

Had one mild hypopnea to 88% with some mild desat preceding it, and some increased cardiac activity up to it. Only one cluster
of mild bradycardia that didnt coincide with any desat at all which was odd.

Dropped my O2 from 4L > 3L. Going to run with this for awhile, maybe this weekend drop back to 2L, which was where I was at before the post covid apnea kicked in.

In some aspects, wearing the headgear is less effort than dealing with an O2 line, but I guess in the end, I traded one for another Smile
