Turn Machine "on" and off" OSCAR

Turn Machine "on" and off" OSCAR
I have been attempting to understand more of the OSCAR provided  data .

For  the   "OSCAR Organization  Daily page " article the Daily  page is identified as having 11 key parts - on the left side bar . Number 10 part is  described as " Session Information ".  Following that it states :

"Each time the machine is turned "  on "  and then "off " is called a session . ........If you stop the machine ....."

Can anyone advise what is meant by turning the machine  " on " and "off  and as well as   " stop " the machine .Is "stop" and "  meant to be the same ? off "

On my machine  ( AirSene 10 - Autoset ) there is no switch ,as I can see ,for "on " or " off " . The machine is plugged in and that seems to be the way that it goes on (?) . To  have it " off " seems to mean to unplug it (?) . Or does hitting the  Start / Stop button at the top mean " on " and " Off " ?  Im trying to understand OSCAR  ( point 10 ) in this context but the CPAP machine is not clear on " on " versus " off - I think ?  What does it mean to turn the machine " on " ? , and turned " off " (? .

But I'm not at all  sure nor  clear on this and would appreciate a more informed understanding . Thanks a lot for any help.

Each session has its own file on the SD card. This occurs when the machine itself is stopped or started, also any "breaks" in the therapy, and sometimes when we don't understand why.

Start/Stop same as On/Off. You don't need to unplug the machine.

A session is the length of time the machine is continuously running. If you slept all night without getting up and turning machine off, that is 1 session.

If you sleep 4 hours, wake up and stop machine for awhile, then go back to bed later for another 4 hours, that becomes 2 sessions.

Thank you for the response - but ,with respect ,this does not answer the question at all ( for me ).

OSCAR point 10 uses very specific language and what I'm trying to understand is what that is meant to be, in the actual use of the CPAP . For example in the AirSense user guide (p. 5) , reference is made to the effect that " therapy " is " on " when the Sleep report " screen is displayed .

Can you confirm that plugging the machine in turns it " on " ,within the meaning of point 10 of OSCAR - or is a different meaning to be given to the word " on " as used in point 10 .

Thanks a lot . Without this settled I cannot get much down the line over this most basic point .

Obliged for any explanantion.

On/off can be controlled by the start/stop button on top. It can also be controlled by the “Smart Start” feature, if you are using it, though that feature can be a little glitchy.

briefly pressing the button on top front of the resmed machines will stop/start therapy. long pressing will completely power the machine off/on

Is this what you are referring to?

Session Information. Each time the machine is turned on then off is called a session. If you sleep right through the night, that is a single session. If you stop the machine for a toilet break then start it again, then two sessions will be recorded.

Besides the user guide, you can order the Clinicians Manual, link at top of page. This will help you get to know your machine better.

Thanks Opal / Rose :

I see your response that the "Start/ Stop " button means "on" and "off "?

The use of the words "on " and "off" in point 10  allows  the reader to be confused (  was for me anyway ) in that the " Start and Stop "  button means ,I gather , "on " and " off " . Anytime  different  language  ( words ) are   used for the same thing - difficulty can occur .

Thanks - Great forum - OSCAR a terrific program!

Welcome to the forum Pat Knoll. The point in question now reads:

Session Information. Each time the machine is started then stopped is called a session. If you sleep right through the night, that is a single session. If you stop the machine for a toilet break then start it again, then two sessions will be recorded.

I trust this now meets your approval?
