Using the heated tube on Dream Station 2
Can heated tube on Dream Station 2 be used without adding water to the built-in humidifier?
I don't use the humidifier but noticed that the heated tube was warm. I realize that one can set the heat to zero and the humidifier to zero, but is it possible to just use the heated tube on a low setting. In winter it warms the air coming through and if the ambient room is humid then connecting the humidifier is not necessary.
Thanks for any insight.

Running the heated tube without water in the humidifier will not likely change the air temperature as the volumes are too high for the tube to make much difference. The tubing is heated to prevent condensation on the walls of the tube. There is no harm in using the tube and the maximum temperature of the tubing will be the same with or without water in the humidifier.

Thank you. By setting the heated tube temperature to the lowest (and humidifier to off) I noticed the tube warm up and the air coming through to be less cold. I was interested in any safety concern but you suggest that there is no harm. Thank you.

The tube temperature is thermostatically controlled (generally below body temperature), so there is certainly no risk of burns or over-heating. When air is warmed, the relative humidity is reduced, so you may find you want to use at least passive humidification.

After experimenting a bit with the settings I notice that when heat is on my mouth gets dry. My CPAP is set at a constant 8 cm. The air comes out strong but not enough for me to need to ramp up to 8. I start from 8 cm.
