PS. I was told that having machine on floor can make for more dust etc in filter/intake area, so be sure to check your filters to see if they need changing more often...not saying your house is dusty, I KNOW mine is.
Yes, I had the same problem when I was on trial with an APAP... more than once. It was like nasty waking me up like that. Thankfully I don't have that issue with the CPAP.
I only had the CPAP on the floor the one time. Now I keep in on my nightstand. The noise isn't noticable with my ear plugs. At least I won't be woken up by some false fire alarm that kids tend to pull in my building at strange hours of the night.
