What happened?
Can someone answer what happened here? My Hypopneas went up, way up for me. What's odd for a couple of that last 3 nights I had no events which just doesn't look right also. Last night I did do somthing new. I went out and bought a Ruby chinstrap yesterday and used it last night. I got an XL which I felt may have been a mistake. I should of gone large. I was using the Resmed strap previously but it just did not do it. I feel when I don't wear a chin strap the pressure forces my mouth open. Current using a P10 with medium pillows that seem to fit well.

@highlandwarlord,
Hey HW, could that have been a coughing fit? I had one once that woke me up and it looked just like that.

RE: What happened?
See how they are all clustered together, that implies a positional apnea with you tucking your chin being the most likely culprit.
If this is the first time or a one off, don't worry about it. If not did you change anything in your sleeping arrangement? Think 1 pillow vs 2, less firm, flatter. The idea is to keep your neck straight. Read the bit on the soft cervical collar as that would be the next step.

RE: What happened?
Sleepy Quixote-I don’t think so but it is in the realm of possibilities.
Gideon-I’ll give it a few days. I’ve been doing decent with CPAP therapy, but it has only been 0~ 4 weeks. Just weird not having any episodes for a couple days then, wham, but I see what you’re saying as a one off. One funny thing, I’ve never been able to sleep at all on my back until I got the CPAP.

@highlandwarlord,
I'm such a dork sometimes, once Gideon mentioned the positional bit, I agree totally. You mentioned never being able to sleep on your back before CPAP, why start now? Its one of the worst for causing positional apneas. I'm an all over sleeper, pretty much have to alternate, left side, back, right side, back, all night long, I can look through my data and see clearly when I'm on my back and not. If its the mask, just hang it off the edge of the pillow when you sleep on the side. Unfortunately for me all the gear pretty much nixes belly sleeping. Good luck! Keep at it, that's how we get good at it.

RE: What happened?
SQ no problem. Sleeping on my back help my sciatic & spondylolysis. Someday hopefully I’ll sleep completely through the night.

RE: What happened?
FYI, I have significant back pain from Spondylosis. Try a tens unit. That works for me except for the length of time I need to use it. I This week am using a trial spinal chord stimulator and the pain is gone. It took a while to get here working with my pain clinic.

RE: What happened?
Definitely looks like you "crimped" your neck, by tucking your chin.
Perhaps it's related to your new chin strap. Does the design draw your chin back narrowing the air passage? Keep an on this, and look for more instances of these clusters. If you see them with frequency while whering the new Ruby XL, switch back to your old strap. BTW, a cervical collar can prevent the chin tucking and potentially remove the need for a chin strap, they also can stop your jaw from dropping.

RE: What happened?
I also use the F20 mask and have had the problem of my mouth dropping open, breaking the lower seal.. An alternative to the chin strap is a soft cervical collar which will keep your mouth closed and also prevent chin tucking. It works well for me and I find it more comfortable than. the chin strap I once used.
