Where to buy CPAP without prescription?

RE: Where to buy CPAP without prescription?
For people outside of the US, Supplier #2 - Second Wind - will not require a prescription for sale of a CPAP machine. Many users have found them to be reliable, both is prices and shipping.

I was suprised to see only today, that the 'Big South American River' sales organisation here in the UK are offering a  Chinese 'Portable Sleep Aid Machine' - No mention of a prescription being required...    Cool

Not exactly cheap, however, and no VAT ("sales-tax") exemption either!

Not marketed as medical equipment, obviously, and sliding under the wire.

Also not supported by OSCAR, so you would be on your own as far as settings.

I did not realize there was a problem with buying equipment without a script.  I have bought my last few machines and several years worth of supplies without an up-t0-date prescription!  Paid for them upfront and then filed the purchases with my health insurance company.

Many prescriptions are written for life and are good unless someone decides to poke you with a stick and say they need a new sleep study. I think the DME is the bigger problem in this regard. I have never had problems with insurance or doctors, and of course I have purchased with a script. Supplier #1 still uses my 2008 prescription.

My DME "requires" a new script every year. So, every time I see my sleep doc, I have him send in a new one. They get one every 6 months. Keeps every one happy.

RE: Where to buy CPAP without prescription?
In case you absolutely NEED a prescription, keep in mind that ANY medical doctor can issue a script for CPAP.  Doesn't have to be a sleep doctor.  Now, some doctors may not agree to write a script and instead refer you to a sleep specialist, but technically, they CAN write a script for you, and we've heard several examples here of primary care doctors who did write a CPAP script for a patient.

RE: Where to buy CPAP without prescription?
If my Lofta results say this, can I buy an AirCurve? Or are most suppliers going to require it say BiPAP? Supplier #2 says you need a prescription

“Recommendations
1) A trial of Auto-CPAP set 4-20 cm H2O with heated humidity and mask/interface fitting.
Close follow up and monitoring is recommended locally in 4-6 weeks to adjust pressures if necessary.”

RE: Where to buy CPAP without prescription?
As long as you have a CPAP prescription, most online suppliers are not going to be concerned about dispensing a bilevel if you can pay for it. Probably not ASV. Remember BiPAP is proprietary to Philips, Resmed uses the term VPAP.

RE: Where to buy CPAP without prescription?
I just have bought a RESVENT ibreeze Machine via EBay.. I wasnt asked for any confirmation or prescription and they seem to sell or ship anywhere. Machine is good and works fine.. At least not worse than the others i own. (Dreamstation Auto, Resmed Airsense 10 VAUTO..)
I also had a Dreamstation that was affected by the recall.. I didnt care. I did a firmware upgrade and pulled all the questionable foam out of the machine without damaging it.
Machine works fine as it could.
