michaelyu15 - Therapy Help
Hi everyone, I started APAP 13 nights ago and would love to get my AHI down close to 0. My sleep study showed an AHI of 28. My current settings for APAP are 6-15 pressure and EPR of 2. Any insight is welcome. Thank you !!

RE: AHI around 3-4. Would like to get it down to 0-1.
Oscar is showing that you're getting some leaks as the machine ramps up pressure to clear the oa's, What mask model and size are you using? You may want to raise your min pressure to 8cm and turn on EPR to 1 and see how you feel for a night or two. If you feel more rested and the ahi drops a bit then it's a good start. However if this were for myself (with this chart) I would set the machine to CPAP mode with pressure at 13cmH2O and set EPR to 1 for a night and check the results Smile

Oh! I am using the P10 nasal pillows. I will turn up the pressure to 8cm today and set the EPR to 1 and see how that works. I also have mouth tape ready today because I am suspecting my mouth opening whenever the pressure raises. Thank you for your insight!! Do you also recommend using a full face mask instead? I feel like the machine itself does not really report the leaks I see on OSCAR. It will just say 0L/min for every night.

Welcome - I would suggest to raise your min to 8 and turn on EPR to full time set to 3.  It should help you sleep better.

Hi!

What's your reasoning behind lowering epr?

Tried EPR at 1 and pressure range of 8-15. Also used mouth tape with a small slit but looks like there were a lot more leaks tonight. Should I keep trying with the same settings or increase EPR? Thank you!!

Thank you!! I will set EPR to 3 tonight and see what happens. I feel like the increased min pressure to 8cm did not really help but it did increase my 95% average to 12 last night

Central events while falling asleep
Almost feeling like I forget to breathe while trying to fall asleep and the APAP bumps up the pressure. Checked last night and AHI was 10 and they were all centrals. OSCAR data overall for the night looks better with an AHI of 2. Please help!

RE: Central events while falling asleep
It's really common to have them when falling sleep, it should subside with time. Mine were reduced after a few weeks, though I still have a few but typically when awake or falling sleep. You really dont have to worry unless you were sound asleep and having them. Just when getting used to the machine you can reset the ramp time which should eliminate or reduce them when falling asleep.
