I've been using my cpap machine since November of last year 2015. Have had a full face mask with no problems until now... I've been getting a sore on the bridge of my nose, I went to the pharmacy thinking it was a zit and the pharmacist thought it was a reaction to my mask not a zit, I've tried different masks ( don't like them ) I've had the mark on my nose for about 2 months now. will see my doctor if it doesn't go away. during the day it seems to look not so irritated as in the morning when I first wake up. has this happened to anyone else? if so, how did you fix it?

sore nose
Hi everyone
I've been using my cpap machine since November of last year 2015. Have had a full face mask with no problems until now... I've been getting a sore on the bridge of my nose, I went to the pharmacy thinking it was a zit and the pharmacist thought it was a reaction to my mask not a zit, I've tried different masks ( don't like them ) I've had the mark on my nose for about 2 months now. will see my doctor if it doesn't go away. during the day it seems to look not so irritated as in the morning when I first wake up. has this happened to anyone else? if so, how did you fix it?

RE: sore nose
G'day Shirl, welcome to Apnea Board.
It's not uncommon to get a sore on the nose caused by the mask. I don't know if it's a reaction to the silicon or a physical abrasion, or perhaps a bit of both. If your mask is getting old the cushion may have lost its flexibility thus causing abrasion. In this case the answer is to get a new cushion. The other option is to place some fabric between the mask and your skin. I use a couple of layers of flanelette over the bridge of my nose - mainly to prevent leakage, but it also prevents skin damage by rubbing. You can also get mask liners which have a similar effect. The most popular are made by Remzz and Pad-a-cheek.
