strap odor

RE: strap odor
I was wondering where the water comes from.

Is it from washing the mask and headgear? Or is it from rainout? That's water condensing in the hose or mask because of low temperature in the room you sleep in.

I hope this problem doesn't occur again.

RE: strap odor
Good question, the water comes from me washing the headgear.  For whatever reason the straps pick up an odor off my head during the time I wear it and I want to get rid of the "head" odor, so I was it daily even though the instructions say to only wash it once a week.  Thanks for your question.

RE: strap odor
Lots of alternatives here. I wash headgear in a mixture of laundry detergent and oxyclean. The Oxyclean releases hydrogen peroxide which is harmless to the straps, but will disinfect the straps while the detergent moves oils and perspiration out of the mix. I used to toss head straps into a mixing bowl with the cleaning solution and agitate by hand, but I have not found any issues using a washing machine with other clothing or linens that like the same treatment. I also cycle through the dryer at low heat which usually restores the size and removed stretching. If it works for your bed sheets, it will be fine for the mask headgear.
