throat spasms
Does anyone have throat spasms or a feeling that your throat is closing in when you sleep? Its when I am falling asleep. I can feel it come on deep in my throat. I have a lot of throat pressure and pain during the day too. Not sure how that relates to the obstructive apnea.

RE: throat spasms
Unless this is a temporary condition, it's not normal. I would recommend seeing an ENT doctor to get it scoped out, literally.

Lindz, that is a feeling many of us experience if we try to sleep or nap without CPAP to splint open our airway. It is very common to feel your airway is closed off and it arouses you to take a breath. This is one of the best indications you need to be evaluated for obstructive sleep apnea. There are many alternatives for obtaining a diagnostic test. Laboratory or clinical polysomnography is best, and most expensive. There are many home tests that are much less expensive and can determine if you have a need for CPAP.

RE: throat spasms
Lindz,
In your prior thread, you stated you would be starting Cpap therapy next week. Hoping these throat spasms will diminish once your start Cpap. Please let us know how you are doing.
