I dunno what I have. - Schnova - 08-05-2024 Hi, A little background: "I have been experiencing unrefreshed sleep, brain fog, snoring, trouble with memory, etc since I was a child so I always suspected OSA but left it untreated well in to adulthood. In the meantime I tried nasal and mouth taping, cervical collar, MAD mouthguard and corticosteroid nasal spray for my non-allergic rhinitis but all these never improved my sleep quality. To my surprise I was tested negative for OSA. AHI was 2.1 and oxygen saturation was 96%. Had 8+ hours of good quality data. This was all I got from my hospital. I am still waiting (2 weeks already) for an appointment to see an ENT consultant for another consultation. I bought a Resmed AS 10 because I suspected I might have UARS and didn't want to wait for god knows how long." I am normally on the CPAP/ UARS on Reddit as there was a guy that was helping me. It got to a point where he thinks I don't have OSA (which I don't) and I also don't have UARS either but he is unsure what I have. I have since stop PAP as my CA were quite high and does not seem to go down much. I have attached my OSCAR results below. Is there any other sleep-related breathing disorder besides SA and UARS that has the symptoms as both? [attachment=67919] [attachment=67917] [attachment=67918] RE: I dunno what I have. - G. Szabo - 08-05-2024 Your flow limit is significant, hence you do need treatment. What was the reason behind selecting CPAP instead of APAP? What was the reason behind selecting CPAP instead of APAP? The guy that was helping me on Reddit suggested me to try CPAP so I just followed what he said. He's been on PAP therapy for 6 years so he had a lot of experience with AS 10 and did self titration. RE: I dunno what I have. - G. Szabo - 08-05-2024 It would be worthwhile to let the instrument run AUTO and provide hints about your optimum pressure. Hence, I suggest you select AUTO instead of CPAP. Considering your CAs, set EPR off, with a minimum pressure of 4 cm, a maximum pressure of 9 cm, and no ramp. And post the result. [attachment=67938] RE: I dunno what I have. - Sleeptechmaster - 08-06-2024 Your inhale time is shorter than your exhale time in those three nights you posted. Those central apneas look to be arousal related and not yet extremely significant. Your EPR is set to off for all those nights. Might be having a little discomfort exhaling which could increase those arousals. Could mabe test with the different EPR settings. I have non-allergic rhinitis so I do feel like when I am breathing in (with mask or without) I am not getting enough air in my lungs, hence the short inhale time. Exhale is ok. RE: I dunno what I have. - Sleeptechmaster - 08-06-2024 I would never recommend a nasal mask with such conditon. Your mouth leak is jumping up a lot likely waking you up and causing a lot of disruption. Your medium tidal volume is low showing around 300 while a typical 'healthy' male is about 500. Possibly a hybrid or FFM would definitely be worth a try as well as a higher minimum pressure to help properly ventilate. I did try two nights as a test using a generic FFM but the leaks were horrible, 24+L/m. The size was a right fit but I move around in my sleep, side to back, back to side. I went for the nasal pillow because I know (with the right size), there will be little to no leak and great for all sleeping position. I am training myself to not open my mouth when breathing so the nasal pillow is something I really want to stick with. RE: I dunno what I have. - Sleeptechmaster - 08-06-2024 Which FFM did you try? If fitting properly they should be pretty secure. How were you sure the fitt was right? |
