How do you feel in the morning when you wake up after wearing the F40?  Do you feel
Refreshed and have a good night sleep ?

Robbob I'm a rolling side to side sleeper with periods on my back.  It is on my back when the AHI gets ruined.  It's not a chin tuck, it's gravity I guess that collapses airways when on my back.  The answer would be don't sleep on my back but I don't know how to control that.  I've tried the tennis ball in a pocket thing..doesn't work.  It was lying on my back sleeping that alerted others to my apnea long ago.  Once in supine position pressure shoots to 20cm then I wake and move back to my side after 20-30 minutes.  I think I'm SOL on the issue since I roll side to side and to my back to relieve pain from permanent injuries.  If it were not for sleeping on my back AHIs would be much lower.  40 OAs and Hs will occur within 30 minutes during back sleep.

Hi,

You might benefit from inspire surgery if you are a candidate.  It keeps your tongue from falling back into your throat.  Insurance can cover the surgery depending on what the ENT says.

Note - the rules to get insurance to pay for it varies a bit but the ENT can give you the list and do the required scope exam to see if it would work.

My wife is up for the scope in a couple of weeks because she can't tollerate the CPAP blowing in her face at all and she has standard apnea.

A pillow like this might work to keep you on your side... put it under your back and maybe a second on the front so rolling over is very difficult.

I don't know if you have tried it or not, but a soft cervial collar might keep your jaw pushed up and help as well.  I tried a few and couldn't find one that suited me, they were all to hot for me to sleep with.

Thank you for the advice, that pillow looks interesting but with my phobia about hospitals I won't be getting surgery.

You mentioned your wife can't stand air blowing in her face.  I must tell you that since I started using hybrid masks my dry eye problem has nearly ceased due to air not blowing in my eyes now.  And, with the Evora FF set to 8cm and Pillows, EPR 3, for the first time in 17 years, it seemed as if no air was moving in the mask.  I would repeatedly feel for air coming out of the exhaust to make sure it was working.  I had thought my machine had broken.  There was little to no sensation of air blowing in my face and no noticeable back pressure when exhaling.  Maybe worth a try.

I have since moved to the F40 and it continues to be the most comfortable, low leak mask I've ever used.  I think I am finally getting much more effective CPAP therapy.  I have felt washed out upon waking for so long I had given up on ever feeling better.

I hear you on that, my wife won't go near Dr by choice.  And now that she has tried the machine with the air she won't ever go near it again... Thanks to the DME insisting on showing her how it worked and giving her a panic attack in the process.

I bought a set of pillows that was a wedge, a back, a triangle, and a small 1/2 round when I had my hip replaced.  They have seen a lot of use since then.  When I had my rotator cuff repaired I used the tall wedge in the back, the scoop in the front and it worked well enough... The second go I just used the tall wedge in the back and a regular pillow in the front and it was easier to deal with.

Are you able to sleep on your side with the 40?   And how do you adjust?  I have standard headgear with large cushion and I have to tighten mouth adjustment all the way to get no leaks?     Otherwise it is very comfortable mask system.

I use the regular head gear and medium mask.

In all mask my jaw falls back and open unless I tape it.  I cut cover-roll stretch tape in an oval slightly bigger than my lips and then a straw sized hole in the middle.  I tried the cervical collar, but couldn't take the hot around my neck.  And I don't like the N20 or other one masks.

I can sleep on my side with the F40 due to its small size, its flexible cushion holder, and the very flexible mini hose that connects to the longer heated hose.  I can even put my face partially into a pillow with this mask, in other words almost face down to a pillow.

I have been experiencing the "feeling," benefits of CPAP therapy for the first time in 17 years, maybe due to this mask.  I only have leak problems with it when APAP sends pressure up to 16cm.  I get what I call a blow out which is loss of therapy due to air blowing out around the mask.  This happens when I roll to my back nightly.

With advice here, I have a special pillow on the way that just might stop me from moving to my back during sleep.  I have little hope though.  I have tried so many things.

I periodically try cover roll tape.  It is the only brand out of four that will stick to my face.  Since nothing changes with tape on, I have given up on it.  I still have an extremely dry mouth and same AHI.  I am not sure how I get dry mouth with my mouth taped shut.

Would taping your mouth work if I have trouble breathing through my nose?
