RE: xirokx - Therapy Thread - xirokx - 10-26-2024 hey everyone, thanks for the feedback so far here are the last 3 days results with EPR =1 Please can you guide me and let me know what I ought to change next? Thank you SeePak you mention my max pressure is too high, what should it be? Although currently we are changing EPR, the Min Pressure and then Max Pressure, thats what I thought, as per previous comments... RE: xirokx - Therapy Thread - SeePak - 10-27-2024 Hi xirox How has your sleep been? How is your recovery from surgery? How is your health in general? Will defer to Szabo for now on adjustments. I have my ideas, not sure what he has planned. Dont want to mix you up right now RE: xirokx - Therapy Thread - xirokx - 10-27-2024 (10-27-2024, 05:12 AM)SeePak Wrote: Hi xirox Thanks for your reply My sleep time is p*** poor in that I sleep late and wake up later however unlike prior to joining this group, I don't wake up 3-4 times a night anymore. I just wake once to pee. I sleep through like 7-8hrs a night, it's just that I sleep late and need a wind down routine. My recovery from surgery is going well thanks although one nostril is still not totally unblocked My health in general is good but I do often get daytime sleepiness and have fatigue so need to do things around resting. This affects my ability to do a job that requires a lot of concentration like IT work as I can and have a fear of falling asleep at my desk. So I do more manual work but even then it cannot be too taxing physically as I don't sleep to a regular sleep schedule my body does not repair in time.. I feel like my sleep in the last 5yrs has been lacking a wind down cycle. I need to improve this to go to bed and wake up at same time more systemically. Good news is there is zero rainout since I started lining the inside mask with kitchen paper as the above images and since the humidity and tube temp are set to what they are at the moment. I do wake up with dry mouth at times though. Yes trouble with numerous people recommending adjustments is that is gets so confusing especially for someone who doesn't understand much about the settings. Thanks so much for asking RE: xirokx - Therapy Thread - G. Szabo - 10-27-2024 Having data over several days is good, so we have more solid ground to adjust. As for the effect of EPR on your CAs under the same 9.6/13 cm setting: Between Oct 23-25. With EPR=1, the average was 4.27, with a standard deviation of the sample: 0.80 Between Oct 17-22. With EPR=2, the average was 4.89 with a standard deviation of the sample: 1.76 Although the average is lower at a smaller EPR, the decrease is statistically insignificant because of the wide deviation. You would probably need to collect several weeks of data with each setting to make a better assessment. For now, it is safe to say that EPR 1 or 2 has no significant impact on your CAs. We reached the same conclusion a while ago before your surgery, but no detailed info was available. I suggest focusing on the pressure and its delivery for now. Let us try the constant pressure regime and see how you feel. Mode: CPAP Set pressure 11.6 cm (close to your 95% average of the last three Oscars) EPR=1, full-time for now. If you feel better, we can go back to EPR=2 later. RE: xirokx - Therapy Thread - xirokx - 10-27-2024 (10-27-2024, 09:18 AM)G. Thank you so much Sounds good to me When you say set pressure to 11.6cm I'm assuming you mean the minimum pressure? Just want to be absolutely sure I've understood you correctly Thank you RE: xirokx - Therapy Thread - G. Szabo - 10-27-2024 At CPAP, there is only one pressure you can set. The EPR regulates the minimum. If you are not able to tolerate this high pressure, decrease it by 1 cm, but keep the EPR the same for now. RE: xirokx - Therapy Thread - xirokx - 10-27-2024 Thank you Will update settings when I get home How long shall I try these settings for? RE: xirokx - Therapy Thread - G. Szabo - 10-27-2024 For three days. RE: xirokx - Therapy Thread - xirokx - 10-28-2024 (10-27-2024, 10:21 AM)G. Szabo Wrote: For three days. Thanks So after the first night on the new settings I woke up with a very dry mouth, a lot drier than usual. Can I lower the Tube Temp (currently 26c) and or increase the Humidity (currently 3)? But not together. What do you recommend? I also dropped pressure from 11.6 to 10.6 as 11.6 felt too much... Thanks RE: xirokx - Therapy Thread - G. Szabo - 10-28-2024 You can add as much humidity as you like until condensation becomes a problem. To prevent dry mouth, it is better to increase the humidity than decrease the hose temperature because the inhaled air will be warmed up to 36 C, and the warmer air will pick up moisture from your body, leading to dryness. Currently, I am setting the humidity to 7 and the tube temperature to 30C. I have some minor condensation with a heated hose and tube coat, but it is okay. |
