RE: Please help with treatment review - DaveL - 07-31-2020 I'm taking advise of people here. I've asked for a referral to a sleep doc to get a new machine. My goal is to come home with the women's version of the auto pap made by ResMed; whatever it's called. I have over 22,000 hours on my ResMed S9 Elite. It's time it was stored as a back-up. Cervical collar (mouth breathing) My home-made pad under my throat is getting old. I ordered a cervical collar from Amazon. Messed up; got the wrong size and returned it. I haven't reordered. My Dr Dakota or whatever it's called abrades my neck. Looks like hickies....gross. Amazon your site doesn't make it easy for me to get a good fitting collar. I need a good, comfortable cervical collar that fits. With covid19 on, I'm not going shopping to get one. Rant: I've used cpap for over 35 years. With guvmint regulations I need a referral from my home doc to the sleep doc they select. Then the sleep doc may require a sleep study (had one less than 2 years ago.) I've left a message with the sleep doc who did the sleep study to see if I can speed things up. Memory. 35 years ago it took almost 2 years constant talking with my home doc to get a referral for a sleep study. Surprise. Severe sleep apnea and restless leg syndrome. Then it took months to get a machine. Frankly my experience in Ontario Canada is that sleep apnea treatment is much more stressful than having sleep apnea. I hope to get a prescription for a new cpap/apap quickly. RE: Please help with treatment review - sheepless - 07-31-2020 perseverance is the name of this game. be politely assertive and don't let up til you get what you need. good luck. :-} RE: Please help with treatment review - Sleeprider - 07-31-2020 Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset For Her. RE: Please help with treatment review - DaveL - 07-31-2020 Thanks Sheepless & Sleeprider. Sleeprider thanks for this link in your signature. http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php?title=Soft_Cervical_Collar (I paid $65+ Canadian for my Dr. Dakota's "Sleep Well My Friends" and it doesn't fit the best. The removable strap has worn really poorly....I sacrificed a sock with a hole in it to put over the strap. When I'm really tired it's hard to get the strap fastened when I'm going to bed. Bought it from ebay IIRC.) I'm convinced that the right Soft Cervical Collar will be the answer. I have a very helpful and good DME. Sleep Management Group in Burlington Ontario. They have other stores; I haven't been to others because I'm happy at the Burlington Store. Dr. A, my sleep doc just changed the name of his company to Peak Sleep. Made me laugh then think...someone peaking while I'm sleeping.... RE: Please help with treatment review - DaveL - 08-01-2020 Here's today's results....I wish i knew how to use my computer better. Tidal volume falls way off. It isn’t cheap, but I find it is quite reliable and very gentle on the skin. It's about a dollar a night (Canadian) following this link. I truly appreciate the help you've given to me. I've asked for a referral and called my sleep doc. Here's hoping...I'm long overdue for a machine. On several nights my machine has actually turned off. I've woken up wand it's off. I've turned off auto-on/off to see if that helps. 22,100+ hours and counting. RE: Please help with treatment review - DaveL - 08-07-2020 Knightsbridge DUAL BAND Anti Snoring Chin Strap I decided to give this a try after reading favourable comments on the forum. I've used many different types of chinstraps. Purpose is to allow me to use my nasal mask; I haven't successfully worn a full face mask because I'm claustrophobic. The CPAP Cap has given me some service for some time. I recently found out how to wear it better. Two suggestions: 1. make sure the adjustment at the back is a tight fit. (otherwise it drops down over my eyes. Because I'm claustrophobic; that doesn't work well. 2. position the strap closer to my neck; I used to use it near my chin. I'll retire it when I get the new chinstrap. RE: Please help with treatment review - Sleeprider - 08-08-2020 Dave, I hope you will write a review in the review forum once you have tried it out. It will be interesting to see a comparison to the PAP Cap. |
