RE: BUG REPORTS for new forum software - Hockenberry - 02-02-2017

You're right, Justmongo, I've been running at 125%, so I can read easier, didn't catch it, because it hasn't been a problem, before. I'll have to try to improvise, overcome, and adapt.         Thanks

Dang, I guess this means that we don't get a donation for having to log you out manually now.   Too-funny

But serious, I'm glad you got it resolved, and I'm glad I didn't have to fix another bug, too!   Coffee

Welcome

Try stretching the right side of your window. . I am running at 133% magnification. I can get rid of the logout button by shrinking the window from the right.

post, but you cannot tell what thread you are in, unless you happen to end up at the top of a page, and can see thread title.

I like to see the thread titles, before I read or respond.  Am I crazy in thinking that the old server showed the thread title above each post???   Crazy   I think I'd rather use the Today's post or New Post button, this way I can see thread titles.

Opal, I've been trying to figure out how to do this, and the way the new software is configured, if I add the thread title to each and every post in a thread, the formatting goes whacky-- mostly because titles can be short or quote long, and the longer thread titles take up way to much room and crowd other things off into weird places.  I'm still looking into ways to do this, but I've spent about 2 hours on it now and haven't found a solution to the issue anywhere.

Also, the consensus from others who run forums is that it's a bad practice to do that, since it's just more information that's (usually) redundant, since readers can simply look at their browser's title bar to see the thread title, which you should be able to do without scrolling up or down.

Of course, if you're reading on a mobile device, that option to see the browser's title bar may not be an option, unless you're in landscape (horizontal) mode, and even then the tab or title bar doesn't show all of the thread title, just the first few characters.

SuperSleeper,
Please don't waste any more time on this as you have enough to do!
As I said, I'm not a fan of the feature anyway and not likely to use it much, especially if I can't tell what thread I've landed in without scrolling to the top.  And I haven't noticed anyone else having an issue with it.

All is well, move on to another bug.   Smile
Thanks

RE: BUG REPORTS for new forum software - SuperSleeper - 02-02-2017

One thing I've noticed is that on some mobile devices, the area up at the top right with "Username", "Logout" and "UserCP" are not visible.

These things look like this on a desktop or larger mobile devices:

So for mobile devices, I've added extra links in the "User Links" menu (in the light-grey bottom area on every page), so now there's new links that say "UserCP" (User Control Panel) and "Log Out".

Hope this helps those with mobile devices - you'll simply have to scroll down to the bottom of a page to access these links.

Okay, thanks Opal.  We're in the final stretch on bug-squashing, I think.  Mostly little things at this point.

Thanks

Something changed in the last few days, I was able to scroll horizontally with my mouse wheel, but this site don't do it anymore. When it changed, I didn't realize it had, I guess it had become very routine, and when I couldn't do it anymore, I thought it was a bug. I'm fine with the log out, and CP at the bottom of the page, and I'm not loosing any of the posts.

My mouse wheel scrolls up and down just fine.

Is this a similar issue you had before -- with your browser being zoomed in too far perhaps?

Also, make sure you haven't disabled your mouse's wheel-scrolling function.  It is possible to turn that off.

My email notifications include the line "You have received a new private message on Apnea Board Forum from MyBB Engine:" which I suggest deleting from the template when the response is not a private message, but is a normal thread response.
