It makes a huge difference for me, so one's mileage may vary. Lots of individual factors involved.

It made a huge difference in my obstructive apneas, so sleep studies be d*mned. You have to find out if it works for you, not some average of a group. When they report findings, is for a group overall. That isn't the same as saying no one gets improvement from the intervention.

I've tried to sleep on my back for ages but I cannot fall asleep even if its quite comfortable. Side works for 30 minutes then my shoulder burn like hell and stomach my lower back hurts like hell day after. I'm 4 months post op spinal fusion but eventually it will go away.
I got UPPP https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty and new oral appliance coming next week so lets

Spinal fusion will take a while; I was told that by 5 months, mine would be 95% healed.
That section won't bend nor twist any more, so you may have to improvise some cushioning around those areas and watch out for trying to twist.
(I spent a summer recovering from a Harrington rod fixation of a spinal fusion of 8 thoracic vertebrae.)
