Hi tekguymi,
WELCOME! to the forum.!
Good luck as you continue CPAP therapy and also with getting the machine you really want.

I recently got a ResMed Aircurve 10 ASV 1 week ago, but haven't updated my profile. Still trying to get mask issues worked out but have become aware of the need for a fixed backup rate like my ST machine had. I am a shallow breather, with a RR that goes down as low as 5, but swinging between 6 to 8 while on the machine before falling asleep. I read on WebMD.com that I shouldn't use an ASV if I have chronic hypoventilation - shallow breathing.

The AHI started out OK at 1 to 3, but have started going up to 5 to 7 the last 2 days. I can feel my throat relaxing and the snoring starts during therapy at the low RR.

Settings are min. EPEP 4, max. EPEP 15, min. PS 4, max. PS 20.  The actual RR is between 10 - 17 in 7 hours.

I was thinking on asking them to get me the new Dreamstation 2 when they are available, just for the fixed back up rate. Your thoughts?
