Hi laneleonard,
WELCOME! to the forum.!
Good luck with CPAP therapy, and Hopefully you will figure out what is causing your vertigo.

Another possibility is Meniere's disease which can be progressive and cause hearing loss as well as dizziness
 and vertigo. See https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/menieres-disease/symptoms-causes/syc-20374910

The morning only occurrence may not fit but you should consider seeing an ENT specialist to be safe. It can become quite disabling.

Pressure setting of 13/5.  Any thoughts or recommendations?

Tell me something out of interest.
Did the spinning go from left to right or from right to left?
Or did the ground and the sky want to change places?  Right spin or left spin?
I have a good reason for asking, but it has little to do with CPAP, or it might have to do with lack of CPAP.
I am not a crank (matter of opinion) but I ask because of something that did happen in the past.

Sorry I can't answer your questions.   I have done some Vertigo Brandt-Daroff exercises and the condition has passed for today at least.  Thanks to everyone for their thoughts.
I don't know if it was related to my sleep apnea problems or not.

That could be a possibility, there is also a little known thing to do with the ears where a doctor in the know can manipulate a patients head to realign the fluid and hairs in the ear.  I saw a doctor do this on TV, the patient complained about feeling dizzy when he got up and it lasted for ages, then would slowly improve until he felt fine.
The doctor moved his head just for a short while and although he didn't feel all that good when he went into the doctors, he immediately felt better and his balance was much improved, you could see he was a lot better just by the way he stood.
The doctor did say he would have to do it a few more times to get everything in the right place and make sure he was fine.
Now I think it was something to do with the fluid and the hair that senses your balance, but I can't quite remember, but this treatment involved no drugs, just a bit of time moving around the head a certain way.
It may be continence that this happened at the time they started CPAP or it might be CPAP caused it, but if it is this it is easy to fix.

laneleonard:  Go see your doctor, it might just be a quick fix.  The doctor that did this fix to the man was an older doctor and he did say most younger doctors forget about this or pass the buck to someone else to work out.  So if you go to your doctor, do mention the cure of manipulating of the head.  It might be a light bulb moment for the doctor.

Years ago I developed meniere's disease. At the least it's a rushing sound and occasional off balance feeling. At it's worse it's that plus episodes of extreme vertigo, and in my case nearly complete loss of hearing in one ear over a six month period. Your symptoms could be anything but it sounds like maybe the cpap machine is causing a pressure fluctuation via your eustachian tubes going to the ear. It effects the semicircular canals where hearing (and balance) takes place. You probably don't have menieres disease but the machine might be causing some of the symptoms. If it is your inner ear that is effected these are the symptoms.

Waking up to the room, not spinning but jumping in a zigzag motion. Holding your head straight while on your back might slow down the dizziness. At it's worst you might vomit, or feel nauseous. If an episode is that severe you would feel sweaty and sleepy. If you let yourself sleep, it could be upwards of three hours and awaken feeling much better. You might feel slightly dizzy while walking or not. Episodes could be frequent or as little as a couple of times a year. It can also hit suddenly during the day. Often after awhile, after your inner ear is damaged enough, the dizzy episodes become much less frequent and milder.

Now, you might just be experiencing the symptoms of this that are just caused by pressure on your ear by the machine so, not a debilitating damaging thing like I described caused by the disease, but, the symptoms somewhat sound to be similar to the inner ear being manipulated by pressure.
