RE: Which machine should I go with? - jaswilliams - 03-08-2020 To look up terms try our wiki Hypopnea http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php/Hypopnea Flow limitation http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php/Flow_limitation RE: Which machine should I go with? - Sleeprider - 03-08-2020 The Beginner's Guide is a far-reaching wiki that covers many subjects in a way that ranges from simple to complex http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php/Beginner%27s_Guide_to_SleepyHead The Flow Limitations Wiki gets into detail on the Flow Limit issue http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php/Flow_limitation The Flow Limitation/UARS and Bilevel Wiki offers more information on why bilevel therapy is more effective for flow limitation and individuals with UARS. http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php/Flow_Limitation/UARS_and_BiPAP RE: Which machine should I go with? - Dormeo - 03-08-2020 (03-07-2020, 08:17 PM)Melman Wrote: No special drivers required and no need to lock the card. But you will need an SD card reader if there isn't one built into your laptop or desktop. I got a very inexpensive one at a local photo shop. RE: Which machine should I go with? - Sleepgains - 03-08-2020 That was pretty helpful thank you! I am very fascinated by this whole world and all the trial and error involved in it. I want to learn as much as possible about optimizing therapy. Do we have a thread that shows people's before and afters similar to the link to the person who had their flow limitation fixed by increasing EPR? I would love to study similar situations and how changing one thing affects another. Thank you guys for the links and resources I have a much better understanding about UARS/Flow limitation/RERAs now! RE: Which machine should I go with? - Sleepgains - 03-08-2020 As an aside, what is your guys opinion on Jason's (lankyleft) video about "fake" centrals? The ones that have very high highs and very low lows before the flatline of flow rate that signals the central? Should those type of centrals be thrown out because movement or yawning or sighing is the main driver of them? RE: Which machine should I go with? - sheepless - 03-08-2020 I think there's a tendency to assume all or most large breaths are indicative of arousal, which I don't happen to agree with, but it's safe, certain actually, to say that any event that occurs while awake can be discounted. RE: Which machine should I go with? - Sleeprider - 03-08-2020 Sleepgains, read the wikis I linked in this post http://www.apneaboard.com/forums/Thread-Equipment-Which-machine-should-I-go-with?pid=338642#pid338642 Also take a look at the Soft Cervical Collar wiki http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php?title=Soft_Cervical_Collar that shows before and after results. Jason is a great guy and far more engaged than most respiratory therapists. "Fake centrals" is his term, and we have a lot more for central apnea that is not worth being concerned about. We see CA events associated with changing position in bed, sleep transition, a sigh, and general "sleep-wake-junk" (SWJ) that occurs at sleep onset and awakening. If you ever post a chart where "the collective" thinks you have a central apnea problem to work on, you will be the first to know. |
