RE: Best Oximeter Device to use w OSCAR - BeardyTechie - 01-05-2022 I guess it's a good idea to get a range of readings at various times of the day, with various states... sitting still resting, standing still, moving around etc. Then you should be able to define a normal baseline for lying and sleeping. RE: Best Oximeter Device to use w OSCAR - Ratchick - 01-06-2022 Absolutely... If you're in a healthy place, hopefully you won't see a huge difference between the two, but then, if you're like me, you end up looking like this. I'm pretty sure anyone could pick out where I fell asleep. [attachment=38701] RE: Best Oximeter Device to use w OSCAR - DJCpap - 01-06-2022 Ratchick, I am sorry you have such desaturations. To think it was worse before treatment is scary. I just got the Wellvue SleepU. It seems to run high also. It also seems to have wildly different reading with movement. Last night I had to go to the bathroom just after putting it on and the reading was 91. Other times I take of my cpap and it jumps to 99, which is rare for me. My usual during the day is 96% when I use a ZacUrate fingertip monitor. RE: Best Oximeter Device to use w OSCAR - Ratchick - 01-06-2022 I haven't, no. As far as I know, unless it's a rebranded version of the ones we cover, it won't work with OSCAR properly but that doesn't stop you from getting it to try, of course. I must be the odd one out because I literally recorded one night with both a contec and a viatom on (one on each hand) and there were no significant differences for me. I would suggest that in that case, measure with the Viatom during the day (as in record it for five or ten minutes while sitting quietly or even lying down awake, to get a representative look rather than a one-off measurement, especially if it's on a different pulse oximeter). That way, you will have a baseline of what is normal for that device for you. It's entirely normal for movement to cause inaccurate readings - that's why all of the pulse oximeters generally say they're not good for use during exercise or while moving around a lot. I don't think I explained it in this thread, but the Viatom works by taking a reading every second, averaging it over the previous four seconds, and then recording that number. So the value you are seeing isn't the exact figure for that moment in the charts, but what the average SpO2 was over the previous 4 seconds. This might be why it appears different, as it varies between makers how they measure it, how they display it, etc. I find that there is consistently a lag before the measurements drop during a desat compared to some other ones, just because of that, but the overall results were close enough. And there's always a lag anyway, with all pulse oximeters, because it takes 15-30 seconds for your breathing to affect the value the pulse oximeter reads. But if people are interested, I can find the side by side figures again for the Contec vs the Viatom test I did? RE: Best Oximeter Device to use w OSCAR - DJCpap - 01-06-2022 Thanks, Ratchick. I will just ignore the readings with movement. The difference between the fingertip reading and Wellvu is usually around 1% (without movement) but the heart rate is often a match exactly. RE: Best Oximeter Device to use w OSCAR - Tomkk - 04-04-2024 Hi, I know this thread is older, but I can confirm that the OSKAR reads data from the Beurer PO80 oximeter without any problems. So I can see unified CPAP and oximeter nigt data in OSKAR. RE: Best Oximeter Device to use w OSCAR - Tomkk - 04-04-2024 I would also like the ability to import ECG data from my Prince 180B. In addition to severe apnea, I have numerous extrasystoles and bradycardic arrhythmias, so it would be helpful to see correlations. In general, I'm pretty satisfied with it, and integrating with OSCAR is straightforward, when you know the incantation. It took me quite a while to figure out the correct "incantation" for myself! For anyone else thinking of using the "ResMed AirSense 10" and the "Wellue SleepU", here is what I came up with for being able to see the results from both machines in both Oscar AND SleepHQ - I do this every morning! It is probably similar for other products. Use of Oscar and SleepHQ to study sleep data 1. TRANSFER NEW CPAP DATA TO PC [for use by (a) Oscar & (b) SleepHQ online] * wait at least 1 minute after taking off the mask, to give time for the "ResMed AirSense 10" CPAP machine to write its data to the SD card * turn off the power to the machine and remove the SD card * insert the SD card into an SD card reader and plug the latter into a USB slot on my PC * use Explorer to copy "STR.edf" from the root of the SD card and paste it to "D:\ResMed\SD card" (my clone of the SD card) * also copy last night's new folder under "DATALOG" on the SD card to "D:\ResMed\SD card\DATALOG" * find the "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" icon and click the SD card's entry there * take the SD card out of the PC and reinsert it into the AirSense 2. TRANSFER NEW OXIMETER DATA TO PHONE [for use by SleepHQ - both app & online] * unplug the Wellue SleepU sensor from the wrist band * after the 10-second countdown has finished, open the ViHealth app on my phone * select the "History" tab and watch as the "Download" window opens [N.B. this ONLY happens if the SleepU has been disconnected from the finger sensor OR a PC in the last few moments, so that the SleepU is showing the "transfer to PC" symbol], then grabs the data, then closes * study the new summary data but then close ViHealth (or it prevents the next step) 3. TRANSFER NEW OXIMETER DATA TO PC [for use by: (a) Oscar; (b) SleepHQ online - but only if you have a Pro subscription] * connect the SleepU wrist band to the PC using the special cable * open "O2 Insight Pro" on the PC and click the "Download" button * study the new summary data 4. TRANSFER NEW CPAP & OXIMETER DATA TO OSCAR * open "Oscar" on the PC * in the "Welcome" tab, click the "CPAP Importer" button; point it at "D:\ResMed\SD card" and let it import the new CPAP data [OR: point it at the actual SD card before taking it out of the PC and let it import from there] * choose "Data > Import Viatom/Wellue Data"; point it at the folder "D:\ResMed\<SleepU-serial-number>" and let it import the Oximeter info from the latest file * study the new CPAP and Oximeter data and charts 5. TRANSFER NEW CPAP DATA TO SLEEPHQ online * on the PC, sign in to SleepHQ online (quite flaky for me, so I haven't felt it worth investing in the Pro account) * in "Data Imports" drop ALL the files and folders from "D:\ResMed\SD card" [yes, ALL, since the dawn of time - but it will actually only upload the ones it doesn't already have] * click "Begin Upload" * if it tells you that any files or folders are missing, which happens constantly, they must have failed to drop properly - so click "Clear Files" and repeat the above 2 steps until it is happy 6. TRANSFER NEW CPAP DATA TO SLEEPHQ online * open the SleepHQ app on the phone * it will magically grab the latest local data - i.e.: (a) it will take the latest Apple watch sleep stage data from the phone (b) if you have a Pro account, it will use Bluetooth to grab any data still in the SleepU [the latter only saves the last few days]....assuming it is not still plugged in to the PC! * it will then send this latest local data to the cloud and will display it in the online SleepHQ * it will grab the latest CPAP data from the cloud and display ALL the new data 7. STUDY THE NEW INFO * open Oscar and study just the CPAP and Oximeter charts * open SleepHQ app or online and study the CPAP, Oximeter AND Sleep Stage charts [ * N.B. if the SleepHQ app is running, the SleepU will always show the "bluetoothing to phone" symbol (even if the phone is off!)....otherwise it shows the time and battery state ] The SleepHQ part of this is my guess of how it works, but it's not obvious ....I have asked their support team to confirm my understanding, but they haven't responded. I am happy to receive critique of this, as I may well not have an optimum flow! I also have the Beurer PO80 (German brand) and was a bit disappointed to see Oscar does not support it. But......when going through the manual of the Windows software that comes with the Beurer, I saw some interesting things (stuff they forgot to edit, LOL) in a few pictures that hinted to it actually being a re-branded Contec CMS 50. So I tried importing the data and found it works indeed. Stupid me....the Beurer PO80 is a lot more expensive then a Contec CMSA 50 . |
