RE: Help? Oxygen level and ResMed Astral 150 - Sleeprider - 11-17-2021 The body does not produce carbon monoxide. The issue is carbon dioxide, the normal byproduct of metabolic activity. With the vent, oxygen is generally improved by Positive End Expiratory Pressure (PEEP), and carbon dioxide by pressure support (difference between IPAP and EPAP). Balancing these while maintaining the pace and volume of normal respiration are the "art" of setting up a ventilator. As mentioned earlier, leaks in the circuit are one of the biggest determining factor of whether supplemental oxygen reaches the patient as intended. RE: Help? Oxygen level and ResMed Astral 150 - Helena - 11-18-2021 Sleeprider, thanks very much for your explanation. I appreciate your help. I meant to type dioxide. I apologize. |
