RE: Air in my stomach - Brazen - 10-09-2022 Did you get your DS repaired with the recall? Seems most people replaced it with a new machine. Now that you posted some screenshots the experts can likely assist with some setting adjustments. Acid reflux and aerophagia are two different issues, both uncomfortable. Adjusting cpap settings is an effective way to control the aerophagia if you can find the sweet spot between that and treating your apnea. Acid reflux can be more complicated. And cardiac concerns have a habit of being misdiagnosed as acid reflux until it's too late. Especially if the patient has recently had covid. Advocate for yourself and make sure your docs are taking you seriously to solve the concerns. RE: Air in my stomach - Old Bert - 10-09-2022 Thank for your reply, No my dream station did not get a repair. I am buying out of pocket the 10 vauto. I look forward to seeing what the experts have to say on my charts. RE: Air in my stomach - Brazen - 10-09-2022 Why were you not provided with a DS2 to replace the hazardous DS1? Or are you just still waiting due to supply chain issues? VAuto is a different type of machine, as I'm sure you know, but your faulty DS1 should be replaced by the manufacturer eventually. RE: Air in my stomach - Old Bert - 10-09-2022 I do not know, my name is on the list at the recall. Who controls that? RE: Air in my stomach - OpalRose - 10-09-2022 Old Bert, My recommendation is based on comfort and taming the Aerophagia. Keep using Cpap mode with a set pressure of 12.0cm. Set C-Flex to 2 (not 3). Are you able to eliminate the ramp? If not, set it at 10cm for 15 - 20 min. Other considerations for Acid reflux/Gerd: Sleep on your left side if possible, head slightly elevated. Don't eat or drink anything too close to bedtime. I think once you get your VAuto, we can make this more comfortable for you. RE: Air in my stomach - Old Bert - 10-09-2022 @opalrose Just a few quick questions if I can. Right now I’m sitting in a recliner at 13.5 will laying down in the way you talked about in the pressure you talked about be better than sitting up? RE: Air in my stomach - OpalRose - 10-09-2022 Do you sleep in the recliner? I must have missed that reading your posts. One thing you need to be watchful of in a recliner is that your head/neck does not drop forward into your chest. Use a small pillow or rolled up towel under your chin. If you sleep in a bed, then left side sleeping will help, with head slightly elevated. You'll have to decide what works better for you. The one way to get control of Aerophagia is to use a lower pressure. Lowering the pressure to 12 is not much of a change from the 13.5, so it should feel comfortable. This may be a trade-off between calming Aerophagia and seeing a few more apneas. But for now, focus on comfort. The setting of C-Flex 3 sometimes causes variable breathing.... so change it to 2. RE: Air in my stomach - Old Bert - 10-09-2022 @opalrose my normal pressure is 18, and I normally don’t sleep in the recliner. But since I started having the problems with air in my stomach I moved to the chair. The chair sucks. Sleep apnea doctor’s office is having me try lower pressures as long as I’m sitting in my chair. 13.5 in the chair was filling me up with air. Sorry for asking all these redundant questions I just wanna get a handle on what I should be doing. RE: Air in my stomach - OpalRose - 10-09-2022 Ok, what your doc is telling you is heading in the right direction with a drop in pressure to 13.5, but it's not exactly working. And whether you sleep in the recliner or bed is up to you. I assume the doctor doesn't want you to lie flat. But if the recliner isn't helping, move to the bed. Do you have a wedge type pillow that could elevate your head a little? And try to sleep on your left side. But to tame the Aerophagia, you need to drop the pressure. See how it goes for a day or two. If no problems, then you can raise the pressure a little at a time and observe. There will be a sweet spot you can live with. So a pressure of 12, CFlex set to 2. RE: Air in my stomach - Old Bert - 10-09-2022 OK will do, my bed has a motor I will raise the head sleep on the left 12 and 2.. Thank you for your advice and for answering all my crazy questions. Sure amazes me that the doctors offices want everything tied up in a nice little bow and they don’t like it when things get out of their little cookie cutter world. The doctor didn’t know what to do I’m the one suggested sleeping in a chair and trying different lower pressures they just agreed with it. Thanks again |
