RE: Newbie and using OSCAR - SUPER LOST and looking for advice - DaveHirschler - 03-20-2023 Gideon - I really appreciate all your help - my AHI was MUCH better last night: 3.11! I didn't have time to grab a screenshot this morning before heading to work. Am hoping maybe this is the new "normal" for me! RE: Newbie and using OSCAR - SUPER LOST and looking for advice - DaveHirschler - 03-21-2023 Gideon - had another decent night: 3.65 AHI I'm posting last night and previous night reports. RE: Newbie and using OSCAR - SUPER LOST and looking for advice - DaveHirschler - 03-23-2023 Night before last was really good, my AHI was 1.68! Last night, not quite as good: 2.96, but still MUCH better than it's been. I tried my new mask last night and it was ROUGH. I got a ResMed AirTouch N20 and a chin strap - had some issues with my perpetually stuffy nose, abandoned and went back to my Amara View after about two or two and a half hours of restless sleep. Flonase has improved my stuffiness but apparently not enough for me to feel like I'm getting enough air through my mask. [attachment=49161][attachment=49162] RE: Newbie and using OSCAR - SUPER LOST and looking for advice - Bluesv6 - 03-23-2023 Is there a reason that you have to use a full face mask . I started cpap in mid jan . I tried 3 full face mask , 3 pillow mask and one nasal mask . I have sinus issues , the nasal mask and full face mask nose would always block up . Even though I used nasal irrigation , flonase or nasonex and saline rinse . i tried some chin straps and always ended up with plugged nose with nasal mask or full face . The full face my nose would plug up and id wake up with mouth wide open and air blasting down my throat as not a full time mouth breather . The nasal mask id wake up plugged nose and couldnt breath as chin strap worked to keep my mouth closed . I gave nasal pillows a shot and managed to breathe with them ,the air gets shot directly up your nasal passages and added humidty it keeps my nose and sinuses open all night . The nasal mask i found had to breathe more compared to pillows . Unsure if this is of any use /value for you but wanted to add RE: Newbie and using OSCAR - SUPER LOST and looking for advice - DaveHirschler - 03-23-2023 Bluesv6 - interesting about the pillows. My respiratory therapist seemed to think that the nasal mask would be better for my issues than the pillows. I may see if my 30 day satisfaction guarantee reset with the new mask I got this week. If so, I may ask for nasal pillows and see if that gets me the air that I need. RE: Newbie and using OSCAR - SUPER LOST and looking for advice - Bluesv6 - 03-23-2023 It is interesting for sure , the sleep clinic the clinician told me that the nose I have the pillows would go inside my nostrils and inflate and keep the airway open. Pillows are the best option for me . Unsure if get same result but may be worth a try. The pillows do take a little bit to get used to. Best of luck RE: Newbie and using OSCAR - SUPER LOST and looking for advice - DaveHirschler - 03-24-2023 Another good night last night: AHI 1.63! [attachment=49233] I had hoped to use the new nasal mask last night but had more issues again. I did use my new Wellue O2 ring - my 02 plunged a couple times - could see it corresponded with a couple apneas. Hoping for a successful night with N20 mask tonight. Gideon - if you're still keeping an eye on things, I'm wondering about where to put the 02 info in OSCAR, or even if that's helpful to include. RE: Newbie and using OSCAR - SUPER LOST and looking for advice - DaveHirschler - 04-14-2023 It's been a few weeks since I've checked in. I've been ALL OVER the map - I've had my best and worst AHI scores in the past week alone... I was NOT amused with a 8+ score. But... last night I was under 1!!! My average AHI is somewhere between 3-5. My N20 was an utter failure and I've since gone back to exclusively using my Amara View mask. I just ordered a P10 and am hoping that a better seal with air shooting directly up into my nose will help improve things. I am on generic Flonase - my right nostril is almost always clogged, then when I turn on my left side, the left side clogs AND the right one remains clogged. With the clogged sinuses issue, I felt like I couldn't breath with my mouth strapped shut, so I'm looking at the P10 with fear and trepidation as I'm just not sure I'll ever not be a mouth-breather. One thing I'm concerned about with the P10 is my max 17 pressure setting - I've seen/heard several places that P10 might not be right if your pressure is set above 14. Can anyone speak into that? Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated. RE: Newbie and using OSCAR - SUPER LOST and looking for advice - Gideon - 04-14-2023 In the second chart there is solid evidence of a few instances of positional apnea. Sometimes we see that clusters of CA events are mostly obstructive and positional. Please post a couple of 5 minute views of your central apnea clusters so we can see what is going on.
