RE: Just started - Internetstranger - 11-30-2023 So last nights leaks were a little better although there were a couple of bouts of leaks, I think associated with movement. The times are all out by an hour for some reason (I suspect daylight savings) but that’s not terribly relevant. Initially slept with no pillow (on back) but grabbed pillow when I turned over, the last little series of leaks I mostly slept through but my partner didn’t, he recorded about a minute of continuous mask leak, tried to wake me gently, I have a vague recall of him saying it was leaking and me pressing on it and perhaps rolling over? Garmin watch reported one dip in oxygen which would have been roughly when that first lot of leak occurred also reports that was rem sleep. [attachment=56639] [attachment=56640] RE: Just started - Internetstranger - 12-01-2023 At this risk of talking to myself…last night was better in terms of reduced sleep disturbances. The leak rate was way down but I did notice several times small leaks near my nose, I pressed gently on the mask for a bit and they generally stopped. My mask is on a 30 day trial so I can swap at no cost and I’m thinking of trying a resmed f30 instead as that might solve the leaks near my nose and the little red mark on my nose! Last nights Oscar reports [attachment=56684] This morning I adjusted the minimum pressure from 5 to 7 as when I first put it on for a minute I felt like I couldn’t get enough air. Will see how that goes tonight. RE: Just started - SarcasticDave94 - 12-01-2023 To get the most benefits from EPR 3, your min pressure should be at 7, just like you said you're editing it to. If you're still having issues with what we call rainout, as in moisture in the mask, there's a few things that might help, if you can have the hose rise up then back down to your mask it may help water to drain into the CPAP instead of the mask. To do this you may want to hang the hose on a holder, there's hose holders but you could rig up a lanyard of sorts and hang it off the headboard or similar. The idea is to have the hose hanging like an inverted V. Another idea may be a hose cover to keep it a bit warmer, again preventing rainout. This rainout is like a glass of ice water on a hot summer day that has condensation on it. Humidity levels might need edited if you can, lowering it a bit. If the hose is heated, maybe turn it a bit hotter. If you don't mouth breathe, you may be able to try a nasal pillows or nasal mask instead. They have less of a seal area, meaning less places to leak. Maybe another brand, I've had good success with Fisher and Paykel masks. RE: Just started - Gideon - 12-02-2023 Bump your min pressure up to 8 or 9. 5 is too low for you. Also up your ramp pressure to that as well, Your flow limits are high. Please vertically shrink the FL chart to it fully shows in the screen shot. This indicates significant resistance in breathing. You did say you couldn't get enough air. We want a higher exhale pressure and a greater difference in pressure between inhale and exhale pressure to help with that You may need a BiLevel such as the ResMed VAuto to help with that. Mention that you are having difficulty breathing (can't get enough air) and ask if a VAuto will help. I can guarantee that a VAuto will not be worse once tuned in. RE: Just started - UnicornRider - 12-02-2023 I too suffer severe O2 desaturation without my BiPAP, I wear a Wellue "Checkme O2 Max" continuous Pulse/Oximeter/Motion monitor. No subscription necessary, although available for cloud storage. I have an Apple phone with Wellue's ViHealth App for real time monitoring/alarm, the "Checkme O2 Max" itself has alarms, audible as well as vibration, the alarm setpoints are user adjustable in software. I use a PC with Wellue's "O2 Insight Pro" software to download via USB port, for recording, storage and printing. For Christmas I am getting a backup BIPAP and a portable power supply. I am still working with my doctor to get some source of Oxygen supply. Here is the type of printout Wellue's software "O2 Insight Pro" provides that I take into the doctors, [attachment=56691] Do take care. RE: Just started - Internetstranger - 12-04-2023 Just to clarify the comment about not getting enough air was only for a minute on start up, which was resolved by upping min pressure to 7. The f20 mask was hurting my nose so I’ve switched to a f30i on a trial. Whilst I slept ok last night it was leak central (mask was fitted at clinic but clearly I didn’t get it right at home)! Watched some fitting vids and refit it and tested it trying to nap this morning for 15min but wasn’t tired so no sleeping (unheard of before I started I would’ve been out like a light)! But I checked in Oscar and there were no leaks so hopefully it’s better tonight. The good news is that the hospital called and I go in Thursday night for sleep study with the APAP to get the levels sorted. RE: Just started - SarcasticDave94 - 12-04-2023 Something that may help on mask adjustments is that you'll need to be at or near your sleeping position and with CPAP on when you adjust it. That's the condition you're attempting to operate under, so you'll adjust while the standard operation is ongoing. If you're doing that and still get lots of leaks, it may be time for something different in the mask department. RE: Just started - Internetstranger - 12-04-2023 Yeah I figured that was why so many issues last night as it was fitted in a chair seated…oddly enough that’s not how I sleep! I’ve tested it this morning and did much better…, I’ve only had one night with this mask, the f20 wasn’t too bad for leaks but wasn’t comfortable at all. I’m sure hospital sleep study will sort it if I don’t sort it tonight/tomorrow. RE: Just started - UnicornRider - 12-05-2023 Everything Gideon said, I agree with. That AirCurve 10 Vauto, if they are going to provide a machine is what you want. It has several modes of operation and multiple special features the give it the flexibility to meet your current and future needs, Take care post back with their findings and your feelings. Sleep Well. RE: Just started - Internetstranger - 12-05-2023 Yeah I figured that was why so many issues last night as it was fitted in a chair seated…oddly enough that’s not how I sleep!
