RE: Central Apnea - BIPAP New - ppluissz - 07-28-2023 Time did not change. I was in Houston when I received the machine. So it is 2 hours ahead of what it should be. Any comments on the charts?? RE: Central Apnea - BIPAP New - Sleeprider - 07-28-2023 Chart looks fine. The most recent included a few OA events including a cluster of positional apnea during a short period of high leaks. CA event index is only 0.71, so not a problem there. Overall, pressure is relatively steady and your therapy looks good. RE: Central Apnea - BIPAP New - RagingBull - 11-17-2023 Hey @ppluissz, did you ever end up feeling better or refreshed from using the bipap machine? Im in a similar situation with being new to using one. Not feeling rested with BIPAP. Is it even making a difference? - ppluissz - 04-24-2024 Hello, I have been diagnosed with sleep apnea for over 7 years now. I had never been able to say that cpap was helping me feel better , hence did not use it much. My first study showed a 8.0 AHI without titration , lately I had been more tired than usual and dediced to do a second study , I have put some weight since then and my AHI got to 27+ in July of 2023 . It was an split study , after two hours , they put me in a CPAP , not working , after that they tried a BIPAP and my AHI was 0.0 . I was very optimistic since I thought all this time I needed BIPAP and now I had a prescription for it. They put me in AUTO BIPAP with with max IPAP 20 , Min 7. I have honestly felt no difference. I have also gain about 10 lbs , so my RDI has probably gone 30+ since. I have played with the machine i even tried CPAP last week , and honestly does not feel worse than whe I used BiPAP. Kind of desperate since I am always tired , hope you could help me out. I am also attaching my sleepstudy if you wanted to take a look. Thanks in advance. P.S : My machine is set up to ET and i am in PT , i dont go to sleep at 2-3 am in the morning. Is it even making a difference? - ppluissz - 04-24-2024 bump! RE: Not feeling rested with BIPAP. Is it even making a difference? - Dormeo - 04-24-2024 A couple of observations. It'd be good to get the large leaks under control. Is your mask worn? Have you tried readjusting the straps, maybe after watching online videos about fitting your particular mask? Have you tried a mask liner? By the numbers, your FLs are better when you use PS of 3 vs PS of 2. (Next time you post a chart, could you squeeze the whole FL graph into the screen shot? You can grab the gray horizontal bars that separate the graphs and push them up a little to make room.) Most of your events are CAs. PS can make CAs more plentiful, but I don't think that's very relevant for you, since you don't have a ton or CAs. But what is potentially important about the CAs is that they may reflect arousals from sleep. Try zooming in to see whether your CAs are preceded by arousal breathing. Also look to see whether you have frequent arousals that aren't followed by a CA. Arousal breathing is deeper and more irregular than most asleep breathing. I've provided two examples below. Having some arousals throughout the night is quite normal, but frequent arousals can fragment sleep. The million dollar question is what causes arousals. For you, period limb movements might be part of the answer. FLs might also be part of the answer. And circumstances that prevent solid sleep might be part of the answer. These include a room that is too warm or light; food or drink too close to bedtime, screen use too close to bedtime, inadequate sunlight and exercise during the day; bad mattress or pillow. -- But some arousals are what they call "spontaneous," meaning that their cause is unknown. RE: Not feeling rested with BIPAP. Is it even making a difference? - Deborah K. - 04-24-2024 Did you have a lot of CAs in your sleep study? How about when you were using your first machine? RE: Not feeling rested with BIPAP. Is it even making a difference? - ppluissz - 05-28-2024 Hello Dormeo , Sorry for the late reply. Normally most of my events are CAs but I do not feel rested . Two days ago I had 20+ CA , and I still really fatigued like a truck ran me over. I am not sure what you mean by arousal breathing would these two pictures work? I am attaching the SS with 20+ CAs , and another of a previous day , with less CA , but still not feeling rested. It is honestly scary to use the machine , knowing that some days I might have a ton of CAs, which make me fatigue for around 2-3 days. Woulnd't this be worst than my Obstructive events , they look really long. [attachment=64768] [attachment=64769] RE: Not feeling rested with BIPAP. Is it even making a difference? - ppluissz - 05-28-2024 Hello Deborah, No I did not have many CA's , it was a split night test ,cpap did not work at all , I am not sure if this was due to mouth leaks (FFM) though. They put me in 20/16 BiPAP and that apparently stop the events. My device in Auto Bipap , never reaches that high of a preassure though. Also , interesting that 98%+ of events where Hypopneas no Apneas. I am attaching to SS of my sleep study. [attachment=64770] [attachment=64771] RE: Not feeling rested with BIPAP. Is it even making a difference? - staceyburke - 05-28-2024 To help with CA we use The trigger setting. Set it to high or very high, that has be shown to reduce CA... I can not see if you have set the trigger setting or not, it shows up further down on the left column. |
