RE: JKan Therapy Analysis - JKan - 05-31-2024 Hey all, the journey continues. It was not a great night's sleep tonight. I'm still having nose and eye pain from the masks. I'll figure it out Here are the last two nights of Oscar. Thank you for any advice or guidance you can provide. May 29th [attachment=64888] May 30th [attachment=64889] RE: JKan Therapy Analysis - Expat31 - 05-31-2024 Hi, Your respiration rate graph looks fine. You did have some positional apnea (wiki), with the tell-tale clustering of events, as evidenced in your flow rate graph of the 29th of May, which was the primary reason for pushing up your AHI to 3.32. You also had some more positionals on the 26th, 22nd and the 20th (just before awakening). Here is a simple demonstration of positional apnea (video) Also, if you are a back sleeper, like many people, this is often not a good idea. Pillow too thick also can cause problems. Concerning mask discomfort, I can only suggest the Resmed Airtouch F20. It is also good to consider Sleep Hygiene tips (video) and read through the mask primer. RE: JKan Therapy Analysis - JKan - 05-31-2024 Hi Expat31, I sleep on my left side 99% of the time. Several weeks ago, when I first learned of positional apnea, I found that if I was on my back, it was much worse. I have noticed that lately it has returned more frequently. I bought a CPAP-type pillow, I believe. It has a cutout on it, so I put the mask over the edge, hoping that the mask doesn't push into the pillow. But I think that the reason for my eye pain is from turning into the pillow while I'm asleep. This is the pillow https://www.walmart.com/ip/DONAMA-Cervical-Pillow-Neck-Pain-Relief-Memory-Foam-Pillow-Ergonomic-Orthopedic-Support-Side-Back-Stomach-Sleepers-Breathable-Pillowcase-Queen-Size-2/2957650659 My DME shipped a Resmed P10 to me, and it finally arrived this afternoon. I hope I can make that work, but if not, I will ask for the Resmed Airtouch F20. I have one week left in my 30 day trial to check out masks. Thanks for the videos, I will check those today. RE: JKan Therapy Analysis - JKan - 06-02-2024 Here are the last couple days with the P10, definitely my favorite mask so far. There was a little left-eye discomfort from the strap inching up during the night. The last 2 nights, I have slept over 5 1/2 hours straight. That hasn't happened in years. CPAP optimism is at an all time high! May 31st [attachment=64933] June 1st [attachment=64934] I had a small cluster of OA's at 11:05 pm last night. In the past, I would chalk it up to PA. I'm wondering if my minimum pressure was a little higher, that might not have happened. You have found your sweet-spot, enjoy it. - Red RE: JKan Therapy Analysis - JKan - 06-02-2024 Awesome! Thanks Crimson Nape!!! RE: JKan Therapy Analysis - JKan - 06-05-2024 Hello Everyone last 3 days of Oscar feel super tired today, guess from only 5 hours of sleep, surprised to see the 0.00 AHI tonight's sleep (6/5) will complete the first month of therapy June 2nd [attachment=65117] June 3rd [attachment=65118] June 4th [attachment=65119] RE: JKan Therapy Analysis - Expat31 - 06-06-2024 Hi, Your graphs look fine, therapy is working, but there must be a source of arousals that is still impacting your sleep. All I can think of are the following possibilities you may want to consider :- - Problem of oxygen desaturation. You could get an OSCAR supported oxymeter and integrate into OSCAR. This may provide some clues when comparing with your other graphs. - Existing medical condition or new medicines that have been introduced. (Best to check with your doctor.) - Any changes in lifestyle. RE: JKan Therapy Analysis - JKan - 06-06-2024 Hey Expat31, Thank you very much for your feedback! I have made no changes in my lifestyle. Same old boring guy My medical condition is pretty much the same with the addition of Sleep Apnea. I have high blood pressure that is being corrected with medications. In the last month on the CPAP, I have noticed it coming down even further. Typically around 125 / 66. I developed Bradycardia around 4+ years ago, and that has been pretty consistent. Drop into the low 40's while sleeping, typically high 40's to high 50's during the day. Also, take medication for Hashimoto's. I think you may be dead on with the oxygen desaturation. My sleep hygiene is pretty good. I go to sleep at the same time every day (9 pm) I would love to sleep until 5 to 6 am, but I am typically being aroused between 12 midnight and 2 am. I do prioritize sleep and don't overdue it with naps lately. My routine is consistent. I've noticed this past week that I fall asleep better, normally in 10 minutes or so. Right now, I am researching a pulse oximeter. I see the units that work with Oscar. I am trying to research which one would be best. Is the Wellue 02Ring the go-to choice on this forum? I am also considering the Check Me 02 Max. Do you like one of the Contect, Viatom/Wellue units over the other? I tend to over-research things; I don't want to make the wrong choice. Thank you for your advice; you have had life-changing feedback over this first month! RE: JKan Therapy Analysis - Expat31 - 06-07-2024 Hi, I have just a very basic Pulox which is not so user friendly, but is however reassuring to check from time. Regarding the oxymetres you mentioned, best to do a search at the top of the Apnea board page to pull out the relevant members' threads which hopefully you will find very informative. One last thing, and it is really a shot in the dark, and based on pure guesswork:- - Up your minimum to 10, just for one night, to see if this does anything. |
