Lukie, having tried both I found the Quattro Air to be more comfortable. There are several difference. The Quattro Air is all one piece and has a different type of headgear that is more intrusive but, in my case, I found it necessary to keep the mask over my nose, which is visibly deviated. There are several suppliers that have great return policies on resmed masks, so if you are having trouble with one, don't hesitate to try another. I will also second the suggestion to try a mask liner.

That is incorrect. CPAP machines that treat central events are called ASVs or VPAP or similar. They vary the pressure but they are still CPAPs.

The enhanced AutoSet algorithm on the S9 AutoSet now includes CSAD for the classification of apneas using the FOT. CSAD was extensively tested using patient simula- tors, normals simulating obstructive and central apneas and clinical trials. CSAD correctly identified and the enhanced AutoSet correctly treated obstructive, central and unknown apneas with a very high degree of accuracy. The enhanced AutoSet and CSAD algorithms have been shown to treat patients appropriately, including those with predominantly central apneas, and without causing disturbance to sleep.

[deal means ... the machine does nothing when central apnea detected]
Also the machine have no way of knowing if you,re asleep or awake when apnea scored

That's too bad because I have both central and obstructive. Hopefully the centrals will diminish as the obstructive part is treated.

Lukie, I have both as well and only use an Auto, the way my specialist explains it to me if he can fix my obstructives hopefully my brain will get the blood and oxygen I have been deprived of and that will fix my centrals, so far it has worked my AHIs are around 2-3 and of those two thirds are still centrals but they have come down from 30.

Since the poster was talking about the S9 auto set, it seems everyone would understand what I was talking about.
