But that does not answer, when you say to save (answering the dialog that appears when closing the program), whether it changing files on the laptop, on the SD card, or both?

It is saving changes on the laptop. No files are affected on the SD card.

I have it down now;
In the download dialog, do discard instead of overwrite.
In the dialog at exit, agree to the save.

Result: new day is imported and flow data on laptop is not erased.

The only circumstance I am aware of where ResScan writes to the SD card would occur if you used ResScan to adjust settings for your S9. In the main menu bar under Tools / Device Settings, you can View and/or adjust the settings. If you don't make any changes here, ResScan won't attempt to write to the card (which should be locked anyway to prevent trouble from Windows). I always adjust settings on the S9 itself, and never use this feature of ResScan.
