RE: seems like I need to raise max pressure? - yankees123 - 11-19-2019 I am a little confused with the terms trigger and cycle. Can you explain these terms to me and explain how adjusting these two settings what happens exactly if one changes one of these settings from medium to say a high setting? RE: seems like I need to raise max pressure? - Sleeprider - 11-19-2019 The machine "triggers" IPAP when it detects inspiration and cycles back to EPAP when it detects expiration or when the TiMax has been exceeded. Increasing the sensitivity of trigger will start IPAP sooner, which may provide more pressure support at the peak of inspiration where you currently experience flow limitation. RE: seems like I need to raise max pressure? - yankees123 - 11-19-2019 Just so I understand does that mean that my changing the trigger from medium to high it gets to iPap at a “faster rate”. Sorry but not exactly clear on this . RE: seems like I need to raise max pressure? - yankees123 - 11-19-2019 Sorry Sleeprider but I didn’t read clearly your explanation. I think I understand. RE: seems like I need to raise max pressure? - yankees123 - 11-25-2019 I followed sleeprider’s suggestion of changing my trigger setting from medium to high. For the past 4 days I felt that I am not waking up from the pressure rising at night. What I have noticed is my respiration rate which median value usual was around 16 or 17 has increased to 20 the past few days. Does this have any relationship to changing my trigger setting? Should I be concerned? Thanks RE: seems like I need to raise max pressure? - yankees123 - 11-25-2019 Just wondering if anyone has an answer? RE: seems like I need to raise max pressure? - SarcasticDave94 - 11-26-2019 I don't know about that as of now, but it looks like I will in the near future. My guess is some are running around getting turkeys and cranberry sauce. I haven't dealt with those settings yet so I can't coach on it. Someone more helpful on this will see it. RE: seems like I need to raise max pressure? - Sleeprider - 11-26-2019 I think avoiding centrals may increase respiration rate, but I would not worry about 20 BPM. By itself, the respiration rate is not very meaningful, but needs to be considered in context with the tidal volume to see if it is impacting minute vent in any way. Also, I'm much more concerned whether it is having the desired effect on sleep and events. RE: seems like I need to raise max pressure? - yankees123 - 11-26-2019 Thank you Sarcastic Dave and sleeprider. SR I do feel over the past few days less interruption with my sleep due to pressure rising. I will check minute ventilation and let you know of any changes. Thanks again for all your help. RE: seems like I need to raise max pressure? - yankees123 - 12-19-2019 So I am still having problems with flow limitations not being under control and the high pressure resulting in waking me up to adjust the mask. As per sleeprider I increased my trigger to high to help resolve this, but really not noticing any improvement or change. So the past 3 days I raised my PS from 4.8 to 5.0 to hopefully tame the flow limitations, but i am not feeling any different and it still appears that the fl. are still quite high. Can I please ask the gurus to please look at my data and advise me? Thanks. |
