RE: New User needs help please - trish6hundred - 01-15-2017 Hi RRussell, WELXOME! to the forum.! I wish you good luck with your CPAP therapy. RE: New User needs help please - RRussell - 01-19-2017 A big 'Thank You' to everyone who reached out to me. Just came back from appointment with RT, and he gave me the solution. The issue is that I have a broad chest, so I have larger lung capacity. So this means that with each breath, I am trying to draw more oxygen through the tube than a normal person. The solution is a wide tube. He switched me from the standard 15mm tube to a 22mm, which cuts down the sound enormously. The new tube doesn't plug in, so it won't be heated. However the RT said that he will try to order a heated version. Extra bonus: He had some sample tube covers from a rep visit, so he provided me with one. Said they are normally $20, so I was very grateful for the freebie! I will test out the new set up this weekend, and let you all know how it works out. RE: New User needs help please - Beej - 01-19-2017 That's terrific! Let us know how that works over the next few days. RE: New User needs help please - Sleeprider - 01-19-2017 RRussell, Out of curiosity, what is your tidal volume and Minute vent (reported in Sleepyhead). This is the FIRST time I have ever heard this proposed as a solution. Count me as skeptical, and a person with tidal volume over 700. I hope your new solution works, but I still think minimum pressure is your issue. If you get around to installing #Sleepyhead, you will be able to confirm. BTW, the standard, less expensive tube is 22 mm and the more flexible or heated tube is 15mm. RE: New User needs help please - Hydrangea - 01-19-2017 Very intriguing! And hooray for a freebie!! I don't know how to quite give you this information, but if I use the 95% column, I was around mid 700's. With the 22mm tube last night, I climbed to 960. Minute vent went from low 9's up to 10.75 (still from the 95% column). As a newbie, I appreciate your feedback. Thanks. I don't see how your tidal volume would affect noise levels or volume at the mask, but best of luck. I'll stand by my previous suggestion that minimum pressure has much more effect, and for those using nasal pillows, a larger size makes a big difference as well. RE: New User needs help please - howlevin - 03-28-2017 Curious if you solved the noisy Respironics Dreamwear issue. It's been mostly silent for 1 month, but now the noise is keeping us awake. Would appreciate any insight. |
