I too have the same problem.  It seems to be loudest when there is moisture in it.  I sleep with a noise machine on so it isn't an issue really.... but I would like to have it as quiet as the under the nose cushion version which has a similar vent.  I think the vent might be crushing in on itself/the shape is reduced when the nose piece is pulled up on by the frame?

Otherwise I really like the gel cushion and like being able to switch back and forth to the under the nose cushion using the same frame.
