The title of this thread is, "hard to breathe CPAP". As soon as you said that,I suspected central apnea. Some people with central apnea end up comfortable, with a treated AHI. Most however, find it hard to breath and don't know why, so they quit. A few join this forum and learn to read and understand the data and how to navigate the complex medical insurance system that is working against you. We have more members here using ASV successfully than anywhere else I can think of, and they will help you with their own stories. Insurance is designed to avoid the cost of this treatment by requiring lower levels of treatment to be failed before ASV will be reimbursed. Most people drop out and remain untreated due to the discomfort and ineffectiveness of CPAP, but Cpap is only the first step. No one will tell you this but us, unless you know the questions to ask. That is why both Fred and I have coached you on important questions to ask your doctor. You are already failing CPAP. Your inability to tolerate the therapy for more than `4-hours per night will eventually result in your machine being taken away...you need toget ahead of this and understand it.

I will make an appointment and talk to her about this complex sleep apnea. Should I go to another doctor, cause if she thinks i only need CPAP then i probably should seek out another opinion. With my disease it makes it hard for me to be a sleep for longer than 2 hours. Just really hard to get comfortable when trying to lie down. its a hard disease and it makes it probably harder for me to cpap cause the pain and anxiety. I appreciate the help and the knowledge. I will listen and try to get me squared away. And how did you read my test and see complex sleep apnea trying to understand.

I just dont understand it , most people say they are tired and drowsy sometimes..i dont get tired or drowsy during the day just mostly pain and uncomfortbility. I just wait till my foot says i can lie down and i try it, if i cant lie down i just get back up. RSD/CSA not a good combo.

The large number of CA events per hour in your sleep study tells us you have mixed or complex sleep apnoea a basic cpap machine will not treat your CA's leaving you with I high AHI figure even when using the machine. The Bilevel will also not help and is likely to make the number of CA's higher so ASV will be the ultimate answer but others have said it will take time to go through the stages needed to get insurance approval of an ASV machine.
At this point do not change your Dr your doctor can help you get to where you need to be but the are required to follow the protocol dictated by insurance.

I agree with the Brit Jaswilliams. At this point you are finding out if your doctor has the knowledge skill and desire to get you proper treatment. This comes from a conversation where you reveal your awareness of an atypical problem concerning complex and central apnea, and the best treatment option ASV. It's entirely up to her to respect your opinion and share your concerns, discuss the options, or reject them and tell you to let her make the decisions. That is what determines your next step. Your whole journey to ASV is going to be about patience and proceeding one step at a time. Meanwhile, read as much as you can to educate yourself about complex apnea and its treatment. We will be here to help as long as you need or want it.
THE FIRST step is to get your data so we can prove the problem is central apnea,rather than your noncompliance or simple failure to use the CPAP.

Any cards 2 to 32GB will work. Cheaper is better in this case.

Here is the scenario. Post your SleepyHead charts and we will direct you to take a couple of detailed 2 min window screenshots. You will do this over several nights to show that it is not a One night problem. The take these screenshots into your Dr. Saying that my understanding I'd that ASV is the correct and proper treatment right? Ok how can we expedite getting there I know insurance will be a problem.

I am making another appointment with my doctor. Guys i have been really trying to wear this CPAP mask but I have such a hard time breathing with it on, And thats with her turning down the pressure on exhale. I wanna work with this apnea but i just cant with this CPAP.
