My original question was not about health issues, but the calcium buildup in the tank. I have been using distilled water for years and never had to use vinegar to clean the tank. My tank is 6 years old an still looks like new. Every now and then I will empty the tank, and give it a quick rinse in Dawn. Outside of that, the tank gets very little maintenance. I am hoping to keep it that way.

If you want to be silly, using a solar distiller in your back yard would be green.
Don’t put the coffee in your humidifier. All the flavor will be left in the tank.
But you already know the answer to your original question since you stated “I have been using distilled ware for years and never had to …”
Nothing will beat distilled water for not leaving residue behind. Guessing the “washable” tank from ResMed is not really worth it just to use city water.
It’s not a soup pot so it doesn’t need to be carried to the faucet. I find it more convenient to use have a bottle of distilled water close to the machine. If I am out of distilled water, I use tap water.
Have done the de-scaling process but I have never really seen any mineral build up in any of my tanks. Usually just discolor from age.
But then, we all do.
Need one of the automatic water fillers to have a coffee option just before wake-up time.
