RE: I haven’t fallen asleep with my CPAP yet. Seeking advice. - UnicornRider - 12-10-2023 A hose hanger/holder/crane, that will elevate the hose so it can drain back to the humidity chamber, it also allows the hose to swing freely as you move. We keep our bedroom really cool ~62*f to 65*f so with the heated hose, hose cover and hose holder we've eliminated rain out. RE: I haven’t fallen asleep with my CPAP yet. Seeking advice. - lygodia - 12-16-2023 This week has been better, for the most part. I do have some questions, if people can provide their input! 1. I'm waking up after every sleep cycle, usually after around 90 minutes (the exact time varies). By partway through the night - usually after 2 or 3 cycles, which is around the compliance mark, though I'm trying not to clock watch - I get sick of waking up constantly and take the mask off. Some cursory searching shows this isn't too common, though it might be moving back into light sleep -> brain realizes I am wearing a mask -> fully awake. Any tips for this? Is this something I should expect to get better with time? 2. I am having issues with water pooling at the base of the gel pillows. It isn't rainout - it appears to be condensation from my own exhaled breath. I've tried a few things - making the room a bit warmer; adjusting humidity to the minimum tolerable setting (3 or 4 seems to be the right mark); adding a cozy to the hose/mask/barrel of the mask. Is there anything else I should be doing? And if/when I wake up, what's the best way to get the water out of the mask? Should I unplug & wipe things down? Should I try to adjust to the wetness? RE: I haven’t fallen asleep with my CPAP yet. Seeking advice. - UnicornRider - 12-17-2023 everyone is different as to how long it takes to get acclimated to the whole set up , mask, pressure, background noise. It took me about two months before I started to notice things starting to feel "normal". Overall I would say it took maybe six months for me to finally say, I look forward to my mask and therapy. The condensation inside the mask I have not experienced (humidity level 4, temperature 27*C). Have you tried running your humidity on auto and hose temperature high? Your background humidity in the house may be different than mine. RE: I haven’t fallen asleep with my CPAP yet. Seeking advice. - lygodia - 12-17-2023 I haven't tried auto since I first started out with the machine; I found the air to be a bit cold for my tastes. I can give it another go, though, to see if it helps! I also plan to reach out to my sleep NP to see if they have any advice regarding the regular awakenings. (I'm not expecting much, but it's worth a try at least.) RE: I haven’t fallen asleep with my CPAP yet. Seeking advice. - lygodia - 12-23-2023 This week has been a whirlwind for non-CPAP related reasons. The good news is that this has made sleep less of a major concern. It's been a bit easier to get to my compliance hours. (I still have not slept a full night through yet - but with everything going on, I'm going to let that go for now.) My provider also upped my minimum pressure to try to help with me sleeping through multiple sleep cycles. We'll see how it goes! I did have one question. I have a unicorn-style mask. I find the mask fits & seals better when the hose is pulling the top of the mask back juuuuuust a bit. (I'm currently only using a Command Hook to hang the hose - I have found that is sufficient - and it's stationed around 12-18 inches above where my head is, halfway between me & the machine.) My understanding of how unicorn masks are supposed to fit tells me I should go down a size in the frame (from a medium to a small). However, when I look at the image guide for the mask fit, it does appear to naturally fit like a medium mask should. Is it worth going down a frame size? RE: I haven’t fallen asleep with my CPAP yet. Seeking advice. - UnicornRider - 12-24-2023 Does your DME have that size you can trial? Or purchase ~$13 on Amazon. I have found in the past, a size up or down from manufactures recommendation would sometimes perform better than the recommended size. Merry Christmas. RE: I haven’t fallen asleep with my CPAP yet. Seeking advice. - lygodia - 12-25-2023 I'll need to purchase online - this mask is from an online DME. I'll give it a go, at least! ---- My provider initially upped my minimum pressure from 7 to 8 based on my 95% pressure reading. A few days in, my 95% pressure reading has increased - this is to be expected, but it does make me wonder - should I be increasing the minimum pressure further upward? (I will ask tomorrow, but wanted to get some other eyes on this as well, if possible!) [attachment=57645] [attachment=57646] RE: I haven’t fallen asleep with my CPAP yet. Seeking advice. - UnicornRider - 12-25-2023 Your charts look good, if you would like to try a higher pressure add no more than 0.4 (cmH2O) so your minimum is 8.4 (cmH2O) Try that for a couple of days then post back with an OSCAR Report. Seeking advice. - tbhausen - 12-26-2023 I know you said you like your mask, but the biggest help for me was going from the two masks I had tried to Bleep Eclipse. The complete absence of headgear was what did the trick for me and allowed me to sleep straight through nearly every night now. Maybe don't run off and try another mask just yet, but something to keep in mind if you can't push through. I barely know I'm wearing anything now that I've been using Bleep Eclipse for a couple of months. Edit: I was posting from work and didn't see the second page before I posted this--I see you're making progress, so congrats! Once you find what works for you, you'll look forward each night to getting a good night's sleep. RE: I haven’t fallen asleep with my CPAP yet.
