RE: AirFit F20 Irritating Nose Bridge - spetzal - 12-09-2022 I use the AitFit F20 (so, silicone vs AirTouch memory foam). Its a practical matter for me. Money is tight, insurance issues and supply chain issues invariably pop up, and the memory foam (while comfy!) quickly degrades. Whereas the silicone can easily extend an extra 30 days in a pinch. I too get skin redness/irritation around the upper nose/sides. I keep the worst of it at bay by using Dove soap on my face every night (no washcloth!) followed by Cetaphil Moisterizing Cream for Sensitive Skin. The most people see in public is a light/small redness on one side of my nose. A minor blemish i find acceptable….kinda looks i got a touch of excess sun. RE: AirFit F20 Irritating Nose Bridge - Homerec130 - 12-10-2022 I routinely get about 45-60 days out of the F20 with the foam. I find it starts to split at the nose bridge. With supply chain issues, I have gone back to routine ordering. Besides, my DME told me if I don't order on a regular basis, they will drop me. Guess Medicare isn't paying enough to keep me going. I have them at least send me filters every time I am eligible. On a side note, just found out I can get a longer regular house without any issues or additional charge - Score! RE: AirFit F20 Irritating Nose Bridge - Lucid - 12-10-2022 Hi, spetzal, I see you use Cetaphil lotion -- have you ever tried Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser (in place of Dove)? There's one for Dry to Normal Sensitive Skin that is especially mild. I've gotten to the point where I only use warm water on my face instead of soap or cleanser, but my skin is quite dry. It's worth trying if you don't have oily skin. This is what dermatologists recommend for eczema, etc. RE: AirFit F20 Irritating Nose Bridge - cberistain - 12-10-2022 is it possible to use facial lotion of any kind before bedtime? doesn't it increase the leak rate? I'd love it if it didn't as I have this redness as well. RE: AirFit F20 Irritating Nose Bridge - SavvApnea - 01-10-2023 Update: I'm still using the foam AirTouch F20 mask.. it still irritates my nose' bridge, and I've even had pores get infected (pores that are directly under where my mask sits on my face/nose) and swell up and one was so bad it left an acne scar, which I didn't really have any of, on my face, prior. I'm working on figuring out a skin care routine to help with that, because eczema doesn't make this easier. I still have a dream of finding a mask that is comfortable and doesn't leak. RE: AirFit F20 Irritating Nose Bridge - cpapshmeepap - 03-10-2024 Hi, sorry if this is Too much information, but i found this thread because i am trying to learn how others deal with “swollen/infected pores” when using F20. (i used to LOVE nasal pillows, but eventually lost the ability to keep my mouth shut during sleep, so i would repeatedly wake my spouse due to the air leaking through my mouth. therefore, i think i am stuck with full face masks moving forward.) Anyway, Just wondering how you (or anyone else) ended up addressing this? One option is to stop using my cpap until my pores heal (both sides of bridge), but I have horrible sinus allergies, and im paranoid my nasal congestion will return if i stop using my cpap. I would rather suffer infected pores than experience the suffocation sensation when my nose is shut tight due to congestion…along with an irritated airway/windpipe. thanks for reading RE: AirFit F20 Irritating Nose Bridge - Lucid - 03-10-2024 There are hybrid masks that fit under the nose, leaving the bridge of the nose uncovered. ResMed AirFit F30 and F30i and the Fisher and Paykel Evora are some examples. RE: AirFit F20 Irritating Nose Bridge - TechieHippie - 03-10-2024 You might try mouth tape with the nasal mask. Buteyko and Cover Roll are brands. Do you happen to know how well these work with facial hair? Also, apologies if this is too much info again: A few times a week, I seem to develop excessively thick saliva while lying down, and it is difficult to swallow.... When it gets particularly thick, I feel like I could inhale it/choke on it, so instead of risking that, I spit it out (into a trash can next to my bed). With my situation as mentioned above, I'm thinking mouth tape wouldn't work for me? Just speculating though, as I've never given it a shot. |
